My favourite restaurant in the area where I live is Bantu in the Matamba Hotel in Phantasialand near Brühl. It is first class restaurant with a wonderful atmosphere, terrific organization and service and outstanding food. We go there to celebrate special occasions, and we stretch the definition of âspecial occasionsâ to go as often as possible. You donât have to go into Phantasialand to visit the restaurant, as it is situated in one of the two very lovely hotels next to the amusement park. The menu changes regularly, but they always offer a special menu of the week. I think we have always ordered this, as it is good value. The meat is always cooked to perfection, and the ingredients are unusual and perfectly coordinated. They also have a childrenâs menu and take care of the young guests very well, serving them first and also providing colouring books and crayons so that the adults can enjoy their meal. The restaurant has a very romantic flair to it. If you go to Phantasialand or Brühl, eat there at least once. You wonât regret it.

Dit café waar ze naast verscheidene dranken ook ijscoupes serveren heeft een groot terras dat mooi gelegen is op het grote plein in het themagebied Berlijn van het Duitse pretpark Phantasialand. Je kijkt uit op de grote zweefmolen die midden op het plein staat. Voor Phantasialand begrippen is de bediening vriendelijk en voor pretparkbegrippen is het niet duur. Ze serveren er lekkere koffie.

We visited for a family gathering and were absolutely blown away by the quality of the food. I've eaten at Michellin star restaurants that didn't match what we had here. Combined with a very reasonable wine list, a great atmosphere and brilliant staff, if you find yourself in Cologne, it is well worth a visit. The owner, Roman, made our evening very special indeed.
