Reviews on Croatian food in Zagreb, Central Croatia, Croatia. Zagreb got its start as two medieval fortress towns atop hills overlooking the Sava River, and was reborn in the Baroque period as center of business, perfectly located on routes connecting Central Europe to the Adriatic Sea. These days, Zagreb is the heart of contemporary Croatia’s culture, art, sports, and academics, but its history is not forgotten. The unique blend of medieval towers, 19th century palaces, open-air markets, and ancient cathedrals, make Zagreb the perfect city to explore.

Ok - it was Friday early evening (7pm) and we did manage to get the last seats without reservation (just in front of kitchen door and in between bar and main dining room). Started of with a mushroom soup - not bad, just little flavor. Main course: wife had a salad with which she was not impressed, especially with the salty cheese - but also im general. I had the stuffed pork loin. Was nice, not great. Waiter was friendly and wine by glass good. Could return but expect there must be better out in zagreb so not convinced on the need to reserve which seems to be the norm (quite a few left restaurant without dinner due to lack of space).

Le Bistro has a strong heritage and history as the city's culinary innovator. Opened in 1986, as a small French type of restaurant, Le Bistro immediately took an important place in the everyday life of the capital. It was the first restaurant with the gla
We had a gorgeous meal here on our last night in Zagreb. From the moment we arrived our waiter was very attentive, without being overbearing. He paid such good attention to my need to eat gluten free, including clarifying in one situation when there was a very small cross contamination risk. The gluten free beer was not available but he recommended the most delicious Croatian white wine instead. After ordering we were bought homemade crackers and herby cheese to enjoy (gf crackers were also provided). To start we had the burratina panna cotta and mushroom soup. Our mains were monkfish and Wiener schnitzel. Puddings were a mango and white choc and the lemon tart (deconstructed). All food was beautifully presented and thoroughly enjoyed by us both. Highly recommend, and if you need gluten free itâs a great place to come.

A good fine dining experience in Zagreb. The atmosphere, decoration, service level etc. were spotless. However, for that insane price level (spent about 800 hrk for two people, no desserts), I expected to be just a bit more excited with the food. My black risotto and the creamy potatoes were too salty, the house wine wasn't particularly good in my taste, and I don't get why they charge an extra 25 hrk per person for "table preparation". Anyway, if you are looking for a very fancy chef's restaurant, this is probably the place for you.

Unique environment created at the Zinfandel's and superb cuisine that combines excellent local ingredients with tastes from all over the world are the winning combination for fine dinning experience in the heart of Zagreb. Building up on the Esplanade tra
We stayed in the hotel and this restaurant was recommended even before that. We enjoyed the warm ambience and friendly service, though on this specific night it was a bit too slow for our liking. The nettle soup was great and the risotto dish good without being outstanding - possibly a little too al dente. Some lovely Croatian wines on offer and reasonably priced for the quality. Overall it was a lovely place to dine.

Roots bar has a unique concept - it is a juice bar until 4pm, and then it transforms into a cocktail bar.
I would highly recommend roots and juice if you enjoy cocktails. We tried several, each cocktail was delicious and well priced for the quality of ingredients used. The young waiter who served us was very friendly and had a great knowledge of the cocktails available. It is obvious that whoever is making the cocktails knows what they are doing.Thank you for your visit and amazing review, it's a great honour that you speak so highly of our cocktails and staff - we will try our best to keep the quality high and prices moderate.

Few useful tips: Because of the size of our place, we donât recommend it to families and groups of more than 3 people. We work on a first-come, first-served basis as our place is very small and with limited number of high chairs. We don't have a toilet! W
We went here based on reviews. Very small place seats 4 on counter inside and weather permitting 8 outside on two tables. The menu is similar to tapas. We tried several plates. The server explained thoroughly the plate, as far as where ingredients were from and differences in the oils. Such a great little place for a quick bite.

Pizza is really good and coctals too. Service is ok but you wait a bit. Prices are lower then in Split. Thank you for your review. We are happy you enjoyed our pizza/cocktails and hope you will come back soon as we will do our best to improve our service in the future.

Fiery & creative takes on Croatian cuisine in a casual bistro. Lunch, dinner. Location: Masarykova 11, in the backyard.
Tucked into a residential alley, Bestija is hard to find but worth it. Charming little place with some beautiful plates coming out of the tiny kitchen. Join the hip young locals for seasonal fresh dishes like sausage stuffed pepper. My grilled Adriatic fish was seriously undercooked, as in raw, but when I asked the waiter he said it was intentional. Celery soup with pumpkin oil was tasty but should be served with some crunchy bread. Would be 5 stars with just a little more attention to taste as well as the presentation and attitude. Croatian wine and local craft beer pair well with the creative cooking and atmosphere.
