This was a quick lunch and we had the schnitzel with fries and it comes with a big salad. It was very tasty, but the salad was swimming in dressing and dressing was not particularly nice. We sat outside because tables are along the shopping street and the service was very friendly the total bill was about €30 which was perfectly fine it's a good central location and I would recommend to visitors to get a traditional German meal. Perhaps you could say the menu does not offer the most biggest of choice that's my only thing to say for feedback

Well, I have been to Cafe Schmitt very often in the past and I really liked it, because it was with old furniture etc. which gave it a nice atmosphere, but now they modernised it and that's a shame.Well, the cakes there a good! You have a good choice of cakes. The food in the restaurant is okay too. But I prefered the cafe before the renovations. If you want to enjoy a cake in Bensheim, it's the place to go. If you want to enjoy food, then other places are better! But it's worth a try!

I happened to enjoy dinner in this first class restaurant. You can sit at the bar, have dinner inside the restaurant or outside with a view at the lake. I observed the difference in this restaurant with meals of great quality and served by friendly professionals. So a recommended rstaurant! Anything negative to mention? Maybe the fact that you can hear from a distance the noise of the A5 autobahn.

Located right next to the main building in Allee Hotel, this was one of a very few places open on a Sunday evening after we'd arrived after a long haul flight. The ambience is cosy and warm (it was 10 degrees outside) and the service is nice and efficient. The menu is typical European/Germany fare - salad, soup, steak, schnitty, fish, etc. Good wine and beer selection and reasonably priced. My Vinothek salad came out very pretty and was just nice for a light dinner. Portions are larger than you'd expect (but this is very subjective).

Food there is German based, mostly very tasty, and the service staff make an effort to serve well, bring food together, and ask if anything more is required.Being the oldest building in Bensheim makes it an unusual but scenic location.

We have been to this tiny restaurant twice and both times were excellent. The interior is cozy with a Mom and Pop feel. The service is impeccable - efficient and friendly with no hectic. The menu offers traditional Austrian dishes prepared to current standards. Ingredients are top quality and fresh. My husband and I have tried the pumpkin soup, T- Bone steak and veal stroganoff as specials, and the salmon pasta from the regular menu. Everything was perfectly prepared, the amuse bouche and salads excellent and very good local and Austrian wines. Bring an appetite as portions are generous. Would give 4 1/2 stars if I could!

Blauer Aff

I am frequently in Germany for my business, and I learnt in the meantime some of German food tradition.Together with colleagues I have been recently at Blauer Aff.Very special restaurant from outside as well as inside. And this was already attractive. The dining rooms are different one from the other: I liked very much the idea of organizing an area inside like a summer dehor... brilliant and well designed. Other areas are more in the old tradition with stone walls, old farm tools...Also the food is in the local tradition, but there is the soft attempt also in searching and well contaminating from other nation food traditions.I like in general Tomato Soups as made in many restaurants in Germany. And it is quite normal for me to start dinner with it when available. So I did it as well at Blauer Aff. What an amazing surprise the Tomato Soup with Burrata and Basilikum! Great idea from the chef. It was delicate, but full of taste. Delicious. I enclose also the photo as I loved it, even if I know very well the picture is never really representative of the food experience.Take a dinner at the Blauer Aff and try their proposals. My colleagues had other dishes that they liked and also myself. But the tomato soup with burrata remains for me a Must-try-it!!!

Muehlstein Bensheim

This former antiques show room was changed some years ago to a restaurant and is tastefully and comfortably furnished and appointed. A very pleasant atmosphere but quite a large area and so for me, lacking in 'Gemütlichkeit' or intimacy which for most people may be irrelevant. The welcome is very warm and efficiently handled. There is a table d'hote menu together with the limited a la Carte menu. This limited menu is quite a good idea, allowing the kitchen to concentrate on doing a few dishes, but doing them well. We were a party of six and all were satisfied with quality and quantity of the meals. The one small complaint was that the House wine that was served had been sitting too long in an open bottle and so tasted oxidised. It was mentioned to a staff member but no response was forthcoming other than a rather negative frown. Finally, in my view, this is not a restaurant suitable for small children.
