After a really positive experience earlier this year at the Prince Rupert Pita Pit, I was pretty anxious to try the Terrace location. The first thing I noticed was the space: it is larger but certainly not brighter than its Rupert counterpart, but the staff are just as friendly and helpful. Perhaps the most distinguishing feature of this location? There’s a giant carved Pita Pit man standing in the corner. He looks most pleased and kind of creepy! In any event, I ordered the chicken Caesar pita and a snack-sized smoothie. Just like the Prince Rupert location, the smoothie here was excellent – full of flavour, not too thick and it didn’t begin separating within minutes of being prepared. The pita, on the other hand, was quite disappointing. Unlike the Rupert location, my pita was pretty sparse on the fillings – was more pita than chicken or Caesar. The dressing, it seemed, was almost non-existent. As a result, the pita was quite dry and I was suddenly thankful for my smoothie as it allowed me to choke down my unremarkable, bland pita. Maybe it was just the type of pita I ordered? I don’t know, but it doesn’t seem like one pita should be more flavourful than the others . . .? Anyhow, after such a positive experience earlier in the year, I was left wanting more here and that’s a shame!FOOD: 2/5SERVICE: 4/5VALUE: 2.75/5RECOMMENDATION: Given the lackluster pita I had here, I’d have no trouble recommending Subway over this place, but it wasn’t all bad. The smoothie was quite tasty and refreshing. Very mild recommendation.

Very nice server, Mehreen, made our meal very pleasant and had good suggestions for both of us including the vegan boy. The cauliflower bites are amazing. I first tried the curry, cauliflower with chickpeas but there was hardly any cauliflower! I’d come again!

Thornhill Pub

Reviewed By PookyCake

The Thornhill Pub is one of the better pubs in the Terrace area. The atmosphere is warm and inviting; the setting and décor are unique (love the log cabin design with the large interior beams, which feature little bears “walking” on them); and the staff are friendly, with an attitude that matches the relaxed environment within which they work. Seriously, I love these eateries styled after log cabins. There’s just something about them that brings me back to “yesteryear,” except these log cabins come equipped with modern amenities. Now, after a truly dreadful experience at another Terrace pub, I do admit to being somewhat hesitant to come here, but the unique look of the space won me over. And, I’m glad I came because on top of a great atmosphere, Thornhill Pub also offers excellent cuisine. I ordered the halibut bites and the “Grizz Burger” (bacon, mushroom and cheese). The halibut bites were delicious. It’s clear the chef in the back knows what he or she is doing because the halibut was cooked perfectly – juicy and tender as opposed to being dried out, which can happen very easily with a finicky fish like this. Best of all, you could tell that the “bites” were homemade and didn’t just come out of some pre-made package. The Grizz burger was also nice. The beef patty was seasoned beautifully and there was the correct ratio of mushrooms and cheese to beef. My only complaint would be that they went a little heavy-handed on the mayo used in the burger – made it much messier than it probably should’ve been. However, be that as it may, the food was still really good.Probably a big reason why the food at Thornhill is of such high quality is because the menu is pretty limited. Unlike that terrible pub I’d gone to earlier, for example, Thornhill had just a handful of menu items as opposed to literally 100+. As a result, the chefs deliver on what’s offered – making things fresh and in-house instead of frozen or pre-made. You can definitely taste the difference quality makes here.My one complaint? This pub is a bit out of the way, so you kind of have to want to come here in order to dine in or have a drink. It’s not a pub that you’ll just spot on the side of the road; it’s kind of hidden away. Because of that, this place seems much more like a “locals” hang out and that’s not a bad thing – the locals tend to know where the good places are.FOOD: 4/5SERVICE: 4.5/5VALUE: 4/5RECOMMENDATION: Good food, great atmosphere. Recommended!

Pretty quiet. I ordered the panko tacos which unfortunately have been changed up to another filling. Good, but not as good as the mango shrimp they had before. Service a miss the entire night. I gave the server my app code on arrival and she lost it. I generated a new code but she couldn't get it too work. Server never did check on me for how my meal was. Time to cut my losses after 10 minutes of waiting on a bill. Thanks for joining us, I'm sorry we missed the mark for you this visit. We normally pride ourselves on our level of guest service and I will review your experience with our entire team. If you would like to share your contact info with us at [email protected], we'd welcome the opportunity to follow up with you further.

Mumford's

We have been here many times. Despite the cold (not cozy enough.. leather chairs maybe? Candles? ) feeling the place has, we have always enjoyed our food! However, tonight, we were so disappointed.I have a strict food diet and love that I can order the gf chicken and Brie sandwich. I omit the sauce it comes with and it’s perfect for me. Today, I learned it is no longer on their menu . The waitress said I wasn’t the first to mention they missed it (so, maybe bring it back?!). Only other option was a salad with chicken. My boyfriend ordered his fave, the shrimp Pad Thai. This is where it got worse. Our food took exactly 50 minutes to arrive. 50. We timed it as a joke at first, but then it wasn’t really funny..! Our neighbouring table ordered after us , received their meals, ate and paid... and we were still waiting. We were shocked and disappointed. We were so ready to get up and walk out. When our food finally arrived, my salad consisted of mixed greens, a few shavings of carrots, a few red peppers and a sad looking chopped up chicken breast. My partners meal was mainly sprouts, fewer noodles that he is used to getting here and very small shrimp (not the usual). We always enjoyed the food here. We bring clients, relatives and friends here when they visit. We often have slow service, but our food has NEVER taken this long and for both of us not to be happy with our meals is disappointing. FYI, the salad was $18.50.

Are used to like going to this place about 20 years ago and was back visiting and thought I would try it again. But still wonderful with a comfortable atmosphere, friendly, quick and professional service. Food is presented delightfully and was very fresh. Gentle spicing seemed to accent the freshness. I had enchiladas. Loved them but left curious about pad Thai.
