Cafe 23

We stopped here for breakfast one a Saturday morning and it was a bit of a mixed experience. It is quite small and cramped downstairs but there is more tables upstairs, and all of the ladies serving were very pleasant. We ordered scrambled eggs on toast for my wife and a bacon sandwich for myself, as it had been recommended to me.Imagine my disappointment then when instead of a bacon sandwich a sausage sandwich came out (which I don’t eat!!!)As we had only put a limited amount of time on the car park we didn’t have time to wait again so my wife had the sausage and I had to have the eggs on toast. On a positive note the coffee was really good and they gave us a token for another free coffee next time we went.

Iron Co Coffee House and Cafe

We have been twice whilst car was in the garage 10 mins walk away. Absolutely excellent. Staff are very welcoming and the building is very interesting. The home cooked food is great but really they will do most things for you. Today we were later so had Battenburg cheesecake which was stunning and I think it's choc brownie cheesecake. As good as any we have had in much more expensive places. Can't recommend the place enough. When lots of local workers come in to eat/ takeaway you know it must be good.

The Whitehouse

Having been regular and VERY satisfied customers at the Whitehouse since it first opened we were delighted that the opening hours had been extended to 11pm by the new management. We decided to try the new 'bistro' menu advertising Turkish dishes one evening recently. We ordered 2 Turkish starters (around £4/£5 each), 2 main courses one of which was the 'Whitehouse special (£15.50) and 2 drinks. It was around 9pm and we were the only customers there. Although the service was good with polite and friendly staff, the food was ok but quite mediocre. The Whitehouse special that consisted of a mixed plate of turkish grills was definitely not worth £15.50. Sadly the food was not appetizing enough to warrant our return. I suspect the evening 'bistro' service will not be operating for too long as the food was not of a sufficient standard to warrant the prices charged.

A lovely room, nice enough service, but the food and drink,,,oh dear.1 x Cappuccino so weak and insipid that we asked for an extra shot of coffee1 x Milk Shake, semi skimmed milk with a cheap additive - everything that a milkshake shouldn't be2 x Panninis, but no pannini, so we had to have it as a toastie that came on cheap, white bread with a salad from the 70sWe were considering cake but decide to skip based on what we had received so far>Tea room culture has moved on and there are some fabulous places out there. Dressers has the perfect room, but needs to massively up its game to get repeat custom IMVI’m sorry to hear that you did not enjoy your visit with us! As you came in last thing on a Sunday afternoon our Panninis do all go as they are delivered fresh from our brakery everyday along with our bread I assure it’s not cheep bread! The lady that served you did re make your coffee as you were not happy with it and it was all finished when clearing the table! We were unaware that you were so unhappy as you were asked as we ask all customers is everything ok and with you leaving a tip for us are really shocked that you were so unhappy. We are an old fashioned tea room that is the theme we are going for! We have a lot of returning customers that are really happy with the atmosphere that our tea room deliveries I’m sorry you were not one of them as we do try to make sure everyone leaves happy

Visited for a lunch with my wife. I had their vegan take on the local delicacy, the parmo, and skinny fries. It was delicious. My wife had fish and chips which again was also fantastic(had a little fry of it myself). Will definitely be giving this another visit to try something else on their impressive menu. The staff and owners are friendly and attentive and they deserve every success.

I use this bar on a regular basis, once or twice a week, for a drink and a game of chess. It's friendly, the drinks are decent quality and reasonably priced, and the music is pretty good. However, this clearly depends on the person in charge of the bar. Today the barman on the mid-afternoon shift was clearly having a bad day. Depressing music and a depressing attitude which virtually chased us out of the place. However bad day your day there is no need to take out on the customers who help to pay your wages.Disappointing.Hi Alice, So so sorry to hear this, and would like to know what member of staff this was, as this is my business and i have a playlist of upbeat eclectc tunes that i insist are played for our customers, sorry you had a bad experience..
