Centred upon the confluence of the Holme and Ribble rivers, Holmfirth is 6 miles (9.7 km) south of Huddersfield and 13 miles (21 km) northeast of Glossop. It mostly consists of stone-built cottages nestled in the Pennine hills. The Peak District National Park around Holme Moss is 4 miles (6.4 km) to the south of the town.

Food and service used to be excellent. Quality and size of meals has become poor. Our favourite, seafood platter got smaller and smaller and has now been taken off the menu with no explanation. Todayâs fish and chip lunch was very poor and the service was very slow - we waited nearly an hour. The chips were greasy and soggy. The fish was very small and the mushy peas no more than a table spoon. The meal was only lukewarm. What has happened?Hi Mike, we are sorry to hear you didn't enjoy your experience with us. Obviously the cafe can get very busy at times which can impact on service speeds but this is something we are always looking at. We will review your comments about the quality of your fish and chips to ensure it doesn't happen again, if you have any issues like this in future please mention it to a member of staff at the time and we will be happy to replace the dish or offer you an alternative. With regards to the seafood platter, we have not reduced it in size over the time it was on our menu but have decided to take it off now, in order to make room for new and exciting alternatives like our Smoked Salmon sandwich with Rocket and Dill, Ploughman's Lunch, Mac & Cheese as well as our Mozzarella Tomato & Basil Ciabatta.We hope you will give us a try again in the future and if you have any issues please tell e member of staff who will be happy to help in any way possible.

Being a local Bus Driver with a meal break in Holmfirth this establishment was ideal being situated across the road from the small Bus Station but I would have walked a long way to sample the excellent food served courteously in spotlessly clean surroundings. I ate at lunchtime and enjoyed one of the three great value specials which was well cooked and presented whilst my colleague sampled the all day breakfast that looked excellent and filling. There is plenty of variety on the menu along with a wide range of drinks, hot and cold. I would heartily recommend this cafe to all customers whatever their age and budget.Thank you very much. We try our best :-)

A breakfast was very much needed and success! Found a fantastic breakfast selection and went for the Full Breakfast and a Coffee which by the way tastes amazing. When it arrived there was no grease in sight, awesome bacon and sausages even jam for your toast if you fancied something a little different. If I would have added anything it would have been a tomato and the egg was cooked slightly too quick but was great all the same! Well worth the visit! Next time I'm having the Yankee Doodle Breakfast â¤ï¸

We visited here for lunch and were the only diners. Had lunch yesterday and although very busy food arrived quickly and was perfect. Didnât fancy the soup so very informative assistant advised the frittata with extra pulled ham on top. Great healthy option and came with a fresh little salad . Always hard to eat out and stay healthy but there is always something here . Many Thanks for taking the time to review your visit we really appreciate it.Look out for the purple hearts on the menu and specials board for the healthier options. We still try to keep them scrummy so you still feel like it was worth coming out for...The frittata on the spring/summer menu proving really popular. Thanks & regards Sue

I took some friends who were visiting for afternoon tea and they loved their first visit to Philomena Foggs, I am a regular and they wished they lived nearer so that they could be too. The smoked salmon on the sandwiches is good quality and the cakes and sweet items are fresh and good quality, as I am sure is the same with everyone my favourite is the cream choux swan on top. Best afternoon tea you can get.
