We were also staying at La Suvera in Pievescola. We went to reception to ask the local places at which we could have lunch. The receptionist recommended this restaurant and said that this was a local restaurant at which she would eat. We went for lunch. Unfortunately by the time we arrived we were told that they were no longer serving any grilled food. They had a huge wood furnace in the kitchen where we could see they were grilling all types of meat.We had lunch. The food was good-what we assume is home cooking. We decided to come back for dinner to try the grilled meat. We had chicken and guinea fowl. Both were excellently grilled. The house wine was ridiculously cheap but also good. It is really a simple everyday restaurant where the locals come to have lunch and dinner. There is no decor or ambience- people come for the food and the extraordinary value.

Didn't actually get to eat here as it was closed when we went, but it came highly recommended. It apparently does gluten free pizza which is very hard to find in Tuscany (so I thought I would leave a review for anyone searching for GF pizza in the future)

Located off Rotatario Belvedere, This is a cosy and bright contemporary cafe with a large carpark, which is usually full. You will see many people crowding at the front portion counter where they order sandwiches or takeaways. Go right in and you will enter a cosy fully glassed dining room, full of people enjoying their food and conversations. The menu is written on the wall and when we arrived at 1.30 pm, the Pulled Pork was sold out. So we had Octopus black burger And Wagyu Burger instead, with salad vegetables instead of chips. The servings were generous and food good. Service was pleasant and helpful. The octopus was amazingly delicious and tender, grilled to perfection. The Wagyu burger came with truffle sauce and bacon, and was satisfying and yummy. The toilet is spacious and clean and pleasant. We enjoyed our meal here and will return with friends.

We had been caught in a storm and were looking for somewhere to stop and park the car until the torrential rain stopped. We ended up in Colle di Val d'Esta - and very pleased we did for many reasons. We had stopped in the lower, modern part of town and dived into Caffe Garibaldi for coffee and were tempted with the sight of an excellent array of pastries, so we tucked into those too. Excellent! The staff realised we were English and helped out with translation. Good service, clean tables and a pleasant atmosphere, all topped up with very tasty refreshments. As we sat and enjoyed these, we also realised that there was more to this town than we originally thought, so returned the following day to visit the older part which is built on the hill and is accessible by lift!
