La Caverna is a lovely oasis of calm in the hustle and bustle of Blantyre. The cafe has Italian style food made with care and awesome homemade lemonade. The cafe is based in a historic Blantyre building, one of the first 2 story buildings in Malawi which is worth visiting also.

How amazing to sit in this beautiful garden - so much attention to detail! The setting is so tranquil and relaxing, and the food is very good and well presented. The choc chip cookies are sublime!! I discovered this place only by chance and instantly love it. It's cheaper by far than similar places in Blantyre, which are a rarity anyway sad to say.I bought 3 pieces for a local property through a laid back promoter so to say, meeting 2 of the 3 artists also. The artists are always about and even painting there sometimes. They're keen to share and talk but sell by the way!The restaurant part as I understand it has only one burner so order early, if you're in something of a hurry. The traditional goat curry is tasty but having had it twice in a week, the pieces of meat about a handful in number. The menu is varied and long, so you'll get something suitable.
