L’Albertine Cafe

I often go to Café Albertine for a reasonably priced and tasty lunch (all products are seasonal, fresh, home made or locally grown), or for a nice cuppa with a scrumptious piece of carrot or cheese cake, a yummy slice of lemon meringue pie or a delicious cupcake. There is also a great selection of organic drinks and the menu changes regularly. Service is efficient, the owner is smiling, ready to help and advize you. It is a great place to hang out with friends or to come on your own to relax, read, and take your time to eat quality food and have tea or coffee. There is also a yummy brunch on Saturdays, it is definitely worth trying!

I have lived close to Thonon for 30 years and am enjoying a staycation this year. I went to the weekly market (Thursday) and fancying a coffee, sat down on the terrace of this very well-situated café/restaurant in the main pedestrian street. The daily menu written on a blackboard appealed to me, so I decided to have an early lunch there. I did the right thing because the terrace and then the retro dining room soon filled up with clients - many of whom were locals, which is always a good sign. I chose a Thai-inspired tuna dish on a bed of crunchy green beans - interesting flavours, fresh and delicious. Curious to discover more, I even had a dessert - very unlike me - but staycation is vacation after all - and didn't regret it - strawberry mousse with a hint of mint. The menu was both seasonal and original and the servings generous. With a small carafe of rosé and a coffee, the bill came in at under 30 euros. Apparently the restaurant is under new ownership - let's hope they carry on like this! An address to which I plan to return with family/friends.Thank you Sarah, it's really nice to be complimented in this way,Hope to see you back on the restaurant !Andrea & Damien
