While the food was excellent ( with the exception of an additional dish between the courses of jellied eels - perhaps it doesn’t go down too well with us Northerners ) the service was somewhat disappointing. We waited quite some time for someone to take our drinks order in the bar even though there were numerous staff behind the bar who appeared to spend a lot of time talking, occasionally serving drinks for customers inside the dining area and then making making notes on some till or computer. This was not something we have experienced before at Home and after more than 7 or 8 minutes of being ignored I was on the cusp on walking up to the bar to see if anyone would take my order and then a waitress finally arrived to take my drinks order and show me the wine list.If it hadn’t been for the fact that the meal was for my wifes’s birthday I’d have been tempted to walk out.As each dish was served, the description by some of the restaurant staff was often rushed, lacking in enthusiasm and often incoherent and several times I had to ask them to repeat what was said.I finally lost patience and stopped asking and just ate the food. For most of the time there was no conviction or warmth to the dialogue about the food with the staff. However, both my wife and I did personally compliment the chefs on the standard of the food.I also think that the compulsory 12.5% cover charge is more than a little cheeky while then asking if we would also like to leave a further service charge for the staff when we have already prepaid for the meal at time of booking.

I phoned to make a last minute booking for myself and my mum and luckily they were able to accommodate us. We were seated in front of the bar and our waitress Alice introduced herself. She was chatty, warm and friendly. We had allowed plenty of time to eat as we didn't know how busy they would be and we had tickets to a show that evening but service was prompt so there was no rush for us. The food was absolutely delicious. Thanks a lot!

Loved it. It’s a totally gluten-free restaurant so handy if you have a gluten intolerance/allergy. We don’t and booked because it looked so lovely with excellent reviews. We weren’t disappointed at all. The food was so good and very generous portions...beware! The summer salad was just the most delicious salad I’ve had in a long time. The goat’s cheese and wild mushroom tart is heavenly, I could eat that every day! Will definitely book to eat here again when visiting Leeds, a really gem.

Not quite a 5* place for reasons I will explain later. But first the good points: the food is tasty and well-presented. It’s great value for money. The owners definitely welcome you and the service is attentive but not oppressive! You get crystal glasses for your drinks! On the downside - place is a little small and gets noisy. My particular put-off was the parading of guests (maybe customers - more probably friends of the owners) with their dogs! Staff were stroking the dogs and then served us our food! No thanks! One of the dogs was big enough to be mistaken for a small horse! Finally people go outside to smoke - close to the open front door - all the smoke ends up back inside!Hey Costas!Thank you for kind words on our food and drink offerings! We take hygiene very seriously which is evident from our 5 star from the Food Standard Agency. As we are dog friendly and provide them with treats, staff are trained to wash their hands if they provide the warm welcome that we encourage here. If customers are exiting the premises to smoke, it is their responsibility to ensure they are away from the door and non-smokers are not affected by their second hand smoke. Overall we hope this hasn't deterred you from visiting us again. It would be a pleasure to have to try us again. Cheers,Residence74 Team

Great little cozy restaurant, serving such wonderful food with the best and the most AMAZING customer service from the waitress and chef!!!! imagine a table of 4, we had one vegetarian, one celiac and one who didn’t eat fish and one that was just happy to eat and still nothing was a problem for them, they catered for us all and all the food was really lovely and really made us try foods cooked in a different ways. However when we asked if it was possible if we could have a cheeseboard made up which they had made up for us previously 1 & 1/2 hours into our meal the owner told us cold and very rudely that it wasn’t possible because our time was up and we could only have what on the menu (This ruined the whole experience) - we still did have 1/2 hour left. We did appreciate they did make a massive effort with changing and swapping the food about to suit our food allergies and tastes, but her behaviour was not appropriate or professional. The evening was great until that point.Ohh and back to the cheeseboard ...when we’d asked where the cheese came from on the previous occasion, we went to the cheesemonger (George & Joseph) and we now regularly go there.. that’s what small business’s do, they support and help each other out! XWell this is the weirdest review we've ever had.Love everything we do, love the food we cook, love that we support other businesses. All of which is down to myself and my husband who have worked very hard to create a restaurant experience that everyone who joins us will enjoy. To maintain that high level of customer service though sometimes we have to decline certain requests. Going off menu for preferences rather than allergies, when there are other options that we're very proud of, is one of those instances. We don't offer a cheeseboard. We do offer two cheese dishes. They are excellent. I'm sorry you didn't want to try them or any of our dessert offerings. Truly baffled regarding your remarks about my behaviour. Its always difficult saying no to a guest, I genuinely hate this part of the job, but sometimes saying yes to some requests impact negatively on other diners. I realise that this may not be immediately apparent to those making the request but I do expect the decision to be taken in good grace. Sadly its not always the case which is why I am always the bearer of bad news and I never expect my staff to do this. But you are right. Claire and Connor are certainly excellent.

We went here based on Trip Advisor reviews, and while it was good I can’t see why it gets such rave reviews. The food was very nice but fairly straightforward and not cheap. The staff were very friendly and the service was good. For us it was too noisy and echoey. The restaurant was not full but it was hard to hear each other because it was so noisy. Maybe the tables are too close to each other but I think it needs more baffle boards to deaden the sound a bit. Thank you for your feedback, it is greatly appreciated. Your comments will be taken on board and passed on to the team.Kind Regards,Amber

In one of the Leeds smaller Arcades a minute's walk from the more grandiose and overpriced cafes in the "Victorian Quarter" there is this very cosy, comfortable and rather wonderful cafe and bistro. Perfect coffee and a good range of teas. They also serve beer and wine to go with their clever range of foods. Yes they have predictable breakfast options but they also allow for cosmopolitan tastes with pancakes, generous European salads and of course some rather delicious cake. Highly recommended for that cosy little corner of a cafe experience. It is small and intimate and friendly.
