The Twice Brewed Inn

We had Dinner at this Restaurant, which consisted of a 3-course meal. The choice was limited but catered for most tastes. The wine list was comprehensive and one could order other drinks from the Bar.The portions for all three courses were big and delicious, that is with the exception of our main course which was duck. The waiter serving us did not ask as to how we liked the duck prepared and when it was served it was slightly overcooked and thus chewy. The Restaurant was happy to provide us with an alternative to the duck.Overall we were satisfied with the Dinner!

No coffee machine and 20 mins for a filter. Probably good for Haltwhistle though. Party of 5 geriatrics walked in. Confused the staff. Saw it would be carnage so just ordered a filter coffee. Decided to go to the co-op for a sandwich instead. Understaffed. Over sized saucer too. Impossible to use. They'll get better. Can't get any worse.Apologies for not responding to this review sooner but I have been "off Line" for a while and did not pick it up. I am sorry that you did not enjoy your visit, but as my granny used to tell me "it costs nothing to be polite". You have managed to be rude about both Kasteale, my older visitors and Haltwhistle, all in one small paragraph. I think you must have visited us on one of the three days our Fracino Coffee machine was waiting for a spare filter to arrive. As a small rural business it is always a juggling act to staff appropriately. It is not economically viable to pay staff "just in case" everyone walks in at once as must have happenned on this occasion. Most customers are understanding of this and if you were in a hurry for an appointment or a train or bus and had mentioned it we could have served you first if other customers were ok to wait. As for the saucer? In six years of business that is the first complaint about saucers, so I am a little baffled. I hope you enjoyed your sandwich from the coop?

You are unlikely to come across this place by accident but it is worth doing the research and going to it. It is unusually situated in the middle of an attractive retirement chalet park. The interior design is warm and welcoming and staff were friendly. I had the best pub food I have had for a long time. I had scampi and chips - the chips were chunky, home cooked and tasty. Even the peas were fresh not frozen. For dessert I had creme brûlée which came with little shortbread biscuits warm from the oven. I will definitely return when I am in those parts again.Thank you very much for taking the time to review Blenkinsopp Castle Inn. We are very pleased that you enjoyed your visit and hope you will call on us again.

Located a few football fields away from Hardrian’s Wall in Northumberland county this 1600’s pub is the perfect place to stop in when you are out driving the countryside and looking for the wall and Sycamore gap (with the tree that was made more famous for being in the Kevin Cosner Robin Hood movie) . It is cozy and warm, with a great selection of hearty food and great beers and ales on tap. The food is pretty much pub standard but it is done with a few modern twists and done well. Plus when it is wet and chilly outside (something I was told is a rather frequent condition) it is a great place to sit and enjoy the fire. If you are hiking, or as most of us would be, driving the wall and the region stop in for a tasty bite and take the chill off your bones.
