Find out what Barbecue restaurants to try in Kailua. Oahu's Kailua, meaning "two seas" or "two currents," is named after either the two lagoons located on the island or the two currents that run through Kailua Bay. Steady trade winds make Kailua Beach a great windsurfing and kite-flying destination. Kailua Beach Park features pristine white sand and views of the offshore island known as Moko nui or "two islands."

Kids were hungry and we needed something quick - disappointed that one of the other fire-roasted outdoor options we remembered from our last visit was no longer there, we opted to give this location a try. A bargain for what you get - the chicken was very tasty, the sauces were a nice addition as well. Wish the sides offered more interest (roasted broccoli or brussels sprouts, even for an upcharge, would be a nice touch) but overall, it was a good value for what they offered.

Your typical Hole-In-The-Wall family run restaurant. Location is nice, a five minute walk from Kailua Beach. Got hungry after a morning of kayaking and snorkeling so stopped in for my favorite; Loco Moco. Rather disheartening, the very light brown (mushroom) gravy was very bland, hardly any taste to it. Seemed like it was from a can because it was also rather runny instead of thick. It's the gravy that makes or breaks a Loco Moco in my opinion so there is much room for improvement here. (Best Loco Moco is HI Steaks on Kuhio Ave)The lemon chicken had problems too. They breaded and deep fried the chicken with the skin and a lot of fat still on it. All the chicken was thigh meat (dark meat), no breast meat at all. Really disappointing. On the plus side, very large portions, you get your money's worth. A full order can feed two moderate eaters very easily. A half order would fill most any appetite. Their macaroni salad was very good, best part of our meals. First experience was disappointing but I would be willing to go back again and try their chicken katsu or beef teriyaki.
