Guilford Mooring Seafood

Reviewed By Scott M

I planned a retirement gathering for a colleague and it was spectacular. From the booking, to the actual event, everything was perfect. They gave us our designated area that was great and served the food we ordered on-time and amazingly prepared. The location of this event was new for my group which fueled more people to attend than originally anticipated. This was not an issue and when I needed to order more food the mangers took charge and worked with me. Gluten free and vegetarian needs were met as needed with no hesitation by the staff. We never felt rushed and our retiree was extremely happy with our location choice. They even insisted on us taking the leftovers home. They could not have done anything to make this event more memorable and special.

We love South Lane Bistro--the ambiance is cozy and comforting, the service is warm and welcoming and the food is consistently wonderful. Our favorite is the grilled salmon sandwich on brioche bread--it is absolutely perfect every time. The wine list is good, too.

A fairly popular restaurant in an area that has a dearth of them. Most successful restaurant in this venue since the lamented Noodles—but that's not really saying much.Restaurant area was crowded since the church nearby was host to a concert at 7P, which we attended. Two female servers weren't exactly overwhelmed, but they were slowed down perceptibly. Bar area was crowded. Don't know how many staff people were working there. The four of us had fish and chips, caesar salad and wings, American chicken wrap, and the pastrami reuben. All seemed ok except for the chicken on the caesar salad, which was cold. Don't know about the kitchen, but food was served fairly slowly, leading us to believe that the kitchen was a bit overwhelmed and/or understaffed. All in all, it seems the restaurant portion of the place is understaffed, but our experience may well have had to do with the 7P concert. At any rate, the food was served fairly slowly for a place of this type, leading me to think this place is currently much more interested in its bar—as opposed to its restaurant—traffic.

We have been going here for years. The meals here have always been well portioned, consistently great, and the staff has always been friendly. Highly recommended! Our favorites are the Irish nachos (waffle fries with corned beef, cheese, jalapeños), the homemade chips with house made aioli dip, the cheeseburger wrap, and California panini. Also you MUST try their house made honey mustard and also the house made hot sauce. They also have Sam & Oliver sauces, made by a company based right here in Guilford. Awesome beer selection is always rotating and can be viewed on the BeerMenus app! Great for families with kids too.

Rocky's Aqua

Rocky's is located in Cedar Island Marina overlooking Clinton Harbor, Cedar Island and Long Island Sound. Enjoy the never ending activity with the constant boat traffic, the southwesterly trade winds on one of our two beautiful decks.

Rocky's Aqua in Clinton has the best lobster rolls on the east coast! Hands down, it was the best in every way. We tried several different places up and down the coast, but nothing compared to Rocky's Aqua. The photos really do not do it justice. The lobster roll was packed with biggest chunks of lobster meat (see photos), while the other restaurants simply shredded little pieces of lobster meat and then added filler to it. Rocky's was the only one that gave you big bites and nothing else. The staff was amazing, and i must say, more than just a little attentive...they were right there for your every need. The place was packed, and yet the staff never faltered. We liked the place so much that we came back again the next day and tried different things on the menu--including the best seared Ahi Tuna steak, Lobster Ravioli, and Swordfish--which i hadn't tried for 35yrs--and it was cooked to perfection! But wait! It got better...they serve homemade ice cream on a beautiful patio as well. And they offered several flavors of homemade ice cream. It's the best! The restaurant overlooks the water. Everything was superb, and the staff was excellent in every way. I cannot recommend this place enough.Frank,It was our pleasure to host you while you were traveling! We'll catch up again soon! Thanks for the kind words!

We met here before heading over to spend the afternoon  at Hammonasette State Park, it is conveniently located a short distance from the park.We shared the fried avocado appetizer, then all ordered the Reuben which we enjoyed very much. The food is good and reasonably priced. The service is OK.

This deservedly popular restaurant has the most beautiful view of LI Sound and across to Long Island. Right on Madison Beach, the covered veranda is a choice spot for meals while watching sailboats right offshore. Connected to the gorgeous AAA Four Diamond-rated Madison Beach Hotel in the pretty town of Madison CT, this was a perfect spot for our summer lunch with friends. The food was exceptional - everything we had was delicious from mussels, sandwiches and salads. However although the waitstaff was very pleasant, service was really odd. We had to ask twice for our table water glasses to be filled, some of us got lunch menus and others got dinner menus (replaced with apologies), no spoons were provided with the soup, a couple of glasses of wine took 15 minutes to arrive as did later coffee and a plate was snatched from one diner while they were reaching for a french fry. Not what one expects from such an upscale place. We are always happy to be patient when a restaurant is popular and busy and no one of these issues was really terrible, but the cumulative effect was one of inattentive service. That said, we would definitely go again and would guess that a Sunday brunch here would be wonderful.Dear VoyagesByTwo -Thank you for your review! I regret that our service was not up to par, and appreciate your frank and valuable comments. We take great pride in our level of service and I regret that we missed the mark with your table. Please come again so we can provide the experience you expected and deserve. And, yes, we have a fabulous Sunday brunch!
