Drinking and eating out is expensive in Sweden but the Pipes of Scotland is probably the most affordable in Kalmar outside the student pub at the university. Beer prices are a bit less or on par with other pubs and they have a decent selection. You also get free food with the purchase of a beer. The buffet itself is limited and very average in quality but you cant expect much more for what you pay. Popular place for Friday beers.

Eat where the Swedish people eat! Not down the road where the tourists are. Nice food for a nice price. The glass of wine was generously filled. The staff was thoughtful and friendly. There after work special was a great deal!

Pleasantly located in the main square, this restaurant/bar attracts both locals and tourists. Nice setup and atmosphere, we decided to take a drink along with some food. The Deluxe Plate was a joke: low quality ham, old chicken wings and mushrooms with canned tomato sauce out of the microwave. That was it. DELUXE. Poor, disgusting and insulting. I told the waitress to take it away and she did, without doing anything to compensate.To the owners: beside getting a new chef (and maybe taking a look at the food from your side as well) you should probably send the staff to some proper customer service training.

Been here with my colleagues. Surprised by all the good Belgian beers the nice and frirndly owner (from greece) had! Had a lovely evening here. Only for drinks. Didn't eat here so i cannot say much about that.

We chose this restaurant because we were rather keen to eat steak and burgers. A special Thank you to the very helpful waitress Anna whom I spoke to prior to our arrival. She kindly reserved seats at a nice table for us. Upon entering the restaurant guests have the facility to hang their jackets in the main reception area. We were promptly seated. We initially shared our table with another couple who were having evening drinks but they left not long after we arrived which meant we had the whole table to ourselves. Usually I don't like sharing tables but on this occasion I overlooked that inconvenience. We had 3 different people serving us but the lady who we settled our bill with stood out. She was very helpful and welcoming. Her whole demeanour was very professional and attentive combined with an excellent flair of top notch customer service. The sort of waitress I am used to see in 5 star hotels and restaurants in London. Our steaks and burgers were a delightful affair and of good quality. The tasty chocolate mousse rounded off our meal rather well. The salmon with buttered potatoes was nicely cooked and presented with roasted carrots spring onions  and pesto. The Cabernet Sauvignon was disappointingly flavourless. The service was friendly and efficient.Â
