Was out for a Sunday stroll when I came across this pub. Popped in for a quick pint and was thrilled to find they also offered homemade pasties, pies and scotch eggs from the bar. Fantastic. Pie and a pint was just what I needed. Pastie was fab. Staff were really friendly, decor in the front bar was beautiful and they had sofas! Many thanks to the bell for providing comfortable seating, so many pubs don't. There was a huge fire place that must be fabulous in the winter. Nice selection of beers and ales as well. Apparently they do homemade pizzas on Friday night's. Definately going back soon for that. Lovely little pub! Thank you for your kind review. In particular mentioning the staff and giving attention to comfortable atmosphere. We do pride ourselves on homemade food. We do have Pizza Fridays in the warmer months! We look forward to seeing you again. Best wishes from the team at The Bell

St. Peter's Hall

St. Peter's Hall is situated adjacent to the World Famous St. Peter's Brewery. The restaurant and bar are in an iconic, romantic and beautiful half moated medieval Hall dating back to 1280.

St. Peter's Hall is well worth our weekly patronage. The summer menu has something for everyone. Presentation & cooking of food is very good, we would especially recommend both the cream teas or savoury teas. An added bonus for beer drinkers is St. Peters brewery which is opposite the Hall.

Staying in the area on holiday, we drove over half an hour to get to St Peters Hall, after seeing it's website. It's quite a remote location but the building looked beautiful and the setting is very pretty. However, when we asked if we could have breakfast we were told it had to be pre-booked. There were about 15 Jaguar cars outside but the owners were all outside having what looked like a guided tour. We were told we could have a cup of tea and a scone outside but they couldn't accommodate us inside anywhere, despite nobody being inside. It was too chilly to sit outside as per her suggestion and a scone at 11am wasn't really what we had in mind. Please update your website to state that you have to book - there is nothing to say that this is required. We were extremely disappointed.

This restaurant is very local to us,and friends kept banging on about how good it was so myself and three others decided to give it a try.On arrival the waitress kept us waiting whilst she finished doing whatever on her phone(I hate this at the best of times, but when you're welcoming guests to your restaurant?)We were shown to our table, fixed benches and not a great deal of foot room. The two waitresses were very friendly although they bumbled through the whole ordering as if they were starting their first night on the job.Starters were very enjoyable.I had the beef ribs,ok but over cooked and chewy on the outside also dry. One friend had burger, which he enjoyed,as did my wife. The last member had bbq chicken and very obviously dissatisfied, saying that when she :goes out to eat,she expects it to be better than the food she prepares at home"There was no atmosphere, some background music would have been nice. When our plates were cleared the waitress ask if everything was ok,"not great" and"ok"were two of the responses given, but she wasn't even interested. We tried, but sorry, not great food not great service

We visited on a Saturday night, great atmosphere and a nice dining room with attentive staff. Our starter, a baked Camembert with caramelised onions was extremely good, with the onions almost certainly home made and not out of a jar. Our main courses though were disappointing, and horrid respectively, a pork belly with prawns dish, and a vegetable risotto. The flavours in the pork belly were bland and the prawns very over cooked, possibly reheated. The risotto was a mush devoid of any discernible anything, and topped with fried zucchini which were cooked to death and beyond, limp, mushy and hardly even holding themselves together. The rice had no bite at all and almost no discernible grains as it was so overcooked. I couldn’t eat it. The staff handled it well, reported it to the manager and chef and removed the charge from our bill. Puddings were acceptable but not outstanding. Given what had happened I felt that the manager should have come over and talked to us, but he/she did not come near us. We paid the bill and left. We wouldn’t hurry back!

Stayed here for b&b as we were at a wedding locally. Friendly welcome. We were shown our room, pleasantly decorated, comfortable - could have done with a second chair; tea, coffee - and very impressed that soya milk was provided as well as normal, cow's, milk - as well as chocolate biscuits and a sweetie jar. As well as the room key we were given a key for the door into the building from the courtyard for later.Very comfortable bed. Breakfast was individually cooked and there was a wide choice. The whole experience was just as we hoped it might be, so thank you the Castle Inn. Only downside was that the wifi didn't work which we mentioned to a member of staff - didn't really matter much. We'd stay again if in the area.
