we arrived almost too late to order but were aloud to place one if quick. we decided to order dessert at the same time and would have it take-away so as not to make it late. Got drinks at the bar, sat and eagerly awaited our meal. Time ticked by, people around us had finished and left. Has the waitress forgotten to put our order in? Then we were presented with a cardboard tray with our meal and dessert to go - obviously the word "Take-away" at the bottom under Desserts got understood as the whole meal. The waitress apologised but we understood how it was an easy mistake. But it was enjoyable all the same even back at our accommodation.

We attended Wavecrest for a meal last evening..We booked earlier as we were told nothing else was open in lovely Hopetoun last nightThe Bistro was busy with a large group booking .... good to see Whilst we understand this would have a pressure effect on the kitchen staff as the group were all expecting to eat at the same time,we were not advised at the time of booking, that they would be dining at the same time as us. We were just told dinner was between 6 and 8 pm so we booked for 7 pmWe had an unacceptably long delay in the provision of our meals. I had to chase up the staff to return to take an order After the long wait our meal was less than acceptable. We expected at least good pub grubThe garlic and cheese bread consisted of a large white roll with a minimum of garlic and cheese, warmed and inedible . My main of chicken cordon Bleu, was huge. But the chicken was very dry and not tasty at all. It tasted like a blob of semi processed food cooked in a hurryI chose to leave most of it The Atlantic salmon, conversely was a better choice and was quite ok Thank-you John for taking the time to share your experience here at Wavecrest. I understand and appreciate your concerns but can assure you that all of out meals are made on site, from natural ingredients. The group booking that delayed your meals was above what was booked, we endeavoured to service others as best we could considering but clearly failed in this instance, for this we can only apologise. Hopetoun..a beautiful little seaside town, quiet, wonderful beaches, whale sitings from the beach, in fact from the Cafe just as we sat down, the scenery is next to none, National Park right on the doorstep, well, back to Toun Beach Cafe! This place, and the owner Simon, are one of the jewels in the crown. We ordered (3 of us) fish and chips..best we've tasted in the 3 months on the road, the portion sizes were extremely generous, the food fresh, cooked to perfection, presented by Simon with a friendly smile and interesting information of the town itself, I decided I'd like an old-fashioned chocolate malted milkshake. Nothing was a bother for for him, and I was presented with the biggest malted milkshake ...delicious once again. An added bonus was the beautiful fresh produce he has for sale, we bought pears, and and other fresh produce, the man, this place, is an unsung 'hero of Hopetoun'...you'd be doing yourself a HUGE favour by detouring of the main highway after travelling through Ravensthorpe, come and see, taste and enjoy this wonderful Cafe and town! We have absolutely no qualms in HIGHLY RECOMMENDING Toun Beach Cafe. Well done Simon for an excellent time and meal. Hope to get back down there come wildflower season! Oh, I almost forgot, the cherry on top of the cake was the prices...THE best value.
