Really decent selection of quality Japanese dishes in a small but cosy restaurant. Sushi expertly crafted by the chef, is fresh and tastes amazing. Special Maki creations are truly outstanding, delicious and delightfully moreish. Tasty takoyaki and perfectly crisp but light tempura. Perfect fix of Japanese treats outside of Japan. We attended on a Thursday evening for a mid week meal. We had more dishes than we would at a normal curry since the price is very reasonable. The restaurant was not busy and the food which arrived was very nice. We did have to order an extra rice so would advise one rice per person. Try the sizzling meat starter for two to share!

We're not regulars here (yet) but have eaten a few times. Evenings at the weekend are buzzing (service is still good) but lunchtime works the best for us - it's much quieter. The menu is small and well selected (and undergoes an occasional tweak). Starters are all tasty (chicken chops, samosa chat our favourites) and the mains are universally good (pork vindaloo is just divine). It's difficult to fault a restaurant like this - it's a rival to Mr Todiwala's Cafe Namaste Spice in London, but much better value for money.It's a fine place, and they have made a fantastic job in creating a restaurant with atmosphere (even though it's on the Ewell bypass).I can't speak highly enough of Dastaan & wish them continuing success.

Excellent and friendly service, nice interior, and great Thai food. Donât let the street/exterior put you off as inside this is a pleasant cosy restaurant. The waitress was attentive polite and helpful and the food was served at a decent pace without being rushed at all. We had the mixed starter, 1 noodle dish, a stir fry, vegetable dish and rice and all were very good.They were taking several take away/delivery orders but the restaurant itself only had 1 other couple in which was surprising.

We come here regularly but hadn't had a meal here for Sunday lunch before. It was as excellent as always and there is a lovely atmosphere in this super old fashioned restaurant. The food never disappoints and the enormous prawns in red curry sauce with basil are a real wow. They do lovely tempura mixed veg and fish as a starter, recommended. The people who run this place are so nice and welcoming and we didn't have to wait for our drinks or food. The wine by the glass in very drinkable,too. Knocks the competition out of the water, way better food and service. Very good value for money. There's also a sweet museum over the road, a tudor house, which we went round after lunch, well worth a visit.

Introduced by local friends, who rate this one of the best Thai places in the area. Slightly complicated by the fact that one of them does not like too much chilli, and neither have been to Thailand. As a result we only has the mildest dishes, except I insisted on the Jungle Curry, which was rated , but would have barely registered in Bangkok. Having said that, it is very popular and operates two sittings. We booked and only1830 hrs was available and we were asked to vacate the table before 2030 hrs. Unfortunately the layout is long and thin, the tables small in one row against the wall along the full length of the restaurant, and the seats hard. The staff are friendly and efficient, and the food we had, though bland, is fresh, tasty and well cooked, in a visible kitchen area behind glass towards the front of the restaurant. Overall a good standard, but nothing special.

I came here to try the Malaysian menu after being recommended by a friend. The pace is very modest and there are only a few tables so it's better to reserve if you have a large group of people during busy period. The Malaysian menu is extensive ranging from the usual rice to noodle dishes. The wat tan hot I ordered was cooked nicely and my teh si kosong was also good.

Tried this place as a change from the Noor Jahan and was pleasantly surprised. Firstly being Nepalese and not Bangladesh /Indian ,it has its own style and flavours , extra kick great taste to the sauces etc and was a very good experience overall . Will go back

In the centre of Sutton, this small restaurant appears very cosy as you enter, well decorated and the staff are good. There speed of service was average but the food was not so great. I had the green curry with prawn, this was too sweet and not as spicy as you usually find in other Thai. My wife had Pad Thai but there was too much Tamarind making it bitter plus an odd flavour.
