This used to be a good restaurant for business lunches and dinner takeout. The quality of the food was good, the prices were fair and the service was okay.Went there today for a business lunch for the first time in a while. It didn't go too well. The service was beyond slow & dreadful and the food was tasteless (same dish I've ordered many times in the past) and the only thing that remained the same is the price.I told my lunch companion, "I guess we can take this place of the list of where we eat lunch." He totally agreed.
This used to be the Shanghai Garden. It is now called Green Bamboo, so if you are looking for Shanghai cuisine, this is not it. They serve the more bland Cantonese cuisine. There are at least five different cuisines in China so it is difficult to rate one restaurant against another if they serve different styles of food. If Cantonese food is what you like, this is the place for you. The food is very good. If you have never tried Tomato Beef, you have a real treat in store. This is one of the best Cantonese dishes. You must try it. They do a really good job with this dish. The service is a bit slow but this is to be expected when they cook fresh. On the other hand, if Szechuan or Hunan is your style, then you can't beat China Village in Novato.

Responsive wait staff, cozy atmosphere for a strip mall although we most often get food to-go. The yellow chicken curry is bliss, as is the chicken-stuffed eggplant and the drunken noodles (wide rice noodles with tofu or your choice of meat). It always feels as if the kitchen actually cares about each dish - seasonings and vegetables seem to be always just-right and delicious.

The food was so bad that it immediately made my stomach turn. I had to use the restroom, and apparently it made lots of other peoples stomachs turn as well, because the bathrooms were absolutely disgusting with diarrhea sprayed all over the one of the walls. I will never step foot in this restaurant again, I have no idea how it's so popular.

This restaurant is getting a lot of attention, it is near the freeway so access is fairly simple, the food here is good, the parking gets harder the later it gets.People seem to flock to this place, the sushi is good and its a new addition to sleepy novato culinary scene. I say try it and decide yourself.

Being open until 9:30 may not seem like a big deal, but in a county that shuts down at 9pm, it's a nice change. We tried to hit another local Thai spot that closed at 9pm, but even arriving before their posted closing tine, we were turned away. My Thai 2 was happy to seat & serve us. The food was good, as always, although the portions seem small for the cost. Their service was good as well. Try the mango iced tea; it's delicious

First time visiting SushiHolic, and I love it! From the minute you step into the interior you feel you're not in a large outdoor mall anymore. The place is beautifully decorated, with comfortable tables and a counter at the sushi-bar where you can eat and watch the magic happen. We were greeted and seated promptly, and given time to review the extensive menu. There are many items I haven't seen in other Japanese/sushi restaurants, so it did take a few minutes to decide. We ordered a nice variety of items, including; the sashimi salmon lunch (comes with salad and miso soup); the veggie tempura appetizer; a California roll; an Oshinko sampler (assorted Japanese pickles); and a vegetable special roll with mixed vegetables. I was asked if I wanted white rice or multi-grain rice for the roll, and I started with white rice, but the waitress kindly brought me a sample of the multi-grain rice which I really liked for its hearty texture. So I switched the white rice out, and am glad I did. If you haven't tried the multi-grain rice, ask for a sample - you may be surprised! (My lunch mate stuck with white rice - oh well!). The food came in a timely manner, and we were quickly surrounded by serving plates and smaller dinner plates. The food was very tasty, and beautifully presented. The Japanese assorted pickles were artistically beautiful as well, both in their colors and textures. I recognized carrot slivers (slightly spicy); cucumber slices and thick slices of a root vegetable, which I want to guess was a radish (daikon?). The fourth vegetable I would guess onion, it was very sweet though. All were delicious, and new to me; however, for the price ($9) and the portion size, I wouldn't order again. Still, worth a one-time try! The tempura was amazing. Light, crisp batter, and a wonderful variety of vegetables. Sounds silly, but I never find this many types of vegetables in one serving of tempura! Usually they stack the deck with starchy yams, or zucchini sticks or some other main vegetable, but this tempura had SEVEN vegetables! There were eggplant, asparagus (which I first mistook for green beans, as they were so thin!), carrot, sweet potato, squash, broccoli, and a vegetable I had to inquire about - calabash. The waitress described it as small, green skinned (which looked purple after cooking) and pumpkin like. It is a gourd, but had semi-firm and tasty flesh I couldn't place. Another new experience for me! All were delicious and plentiful, definitely a re-order on my next visit. The California roll was unremarkable, but good, and the sashimi salmon was not as - mmm, buttery - in texture as other salmons have been elsewhere. Not a re-order for the price. The vegetable roll (one of many veggie rolls offered) was delicious, with a nice variety of vegetables in a dark brownish-purple rice wrap. A nice change indeed. Overall, a very good meal, and with a couple of items we enjoyed but wouldn't re-order, there are many other items we can try next time! Service was excellent, both attentive and friendly, never rushing us and nice interactions with the 3 year old and 9 month old. A good experience all around - I encourage you to try them out.

Definitely the best Chinese food in Novato. Great shrimp dishes, and love the general's chicken and beef. Food is fresh! No second time fried food that I mentioned in another review. Lemon chicken for example is breaded, but not completely covered, so you can see and taste the freshness. We eat here exclusively for Chinese food in Novat.

It's been my experience Novato, generally, is lackluster in the dining experience. However, with Masa Sushi, OMG they have a real winner! This is a very small restaurant so reservations are advised for both table and sushi bar dining. I highly suggest the sushi bar where you can see chef Taka create absolute masterpieces. His fish as other reviewers have said is high end. I would say his sushi rivals some of the best in SF. He will put together creations that are not on the menu, and if you have a favorite, he is happy to please. He is very creative with different sauces, condiments, seasonings, etc. that are hand crafted. Surprisingly, this is a moderate priced restaurant that offers a wide variety of selections that would surely please the most discriminating palate.
