So here we are, a family of 6, out for a birthday celebration. No reservation, but fortunately we didn't need one because the restaurant wasn't terribly busy at the time. We were seated immediately, and our server greeted us a few minutes later. We asked for a little more time to order, so she got our beverages in the meantime. Our order was placed, and we waited. And waited. And waited. The server stopped by to apologize and offered to bring us some soup (on the house) because the kitchen was "a little backed up". That was a nice touch, and kudos to her for thinking of it! Finally, the food arrived, nicely prepared, and hot - so at least it was fresh and served immediately. Overall, it was a pleasant experience, mostly because our server was attentive and friendly.

It's very pleasant sitting by the window, overlooking the stream, at Joey Chui's. And service is very attentive. Where the restaurant stumbles is the food. This is an Americanized, bland version of Chinese cuisine. The quality of the ingredients is fine; it's the flavor that's lacking.

Eight of us from the office decided to try Fusion for lunch and called our order ahead and reserved the table. The food came out immediately after we sat down!! We called 25mins ahead. My Spicy Rainbow Roll and side order of Seaweed Salad was delicious ($12.50 for the roll and $5.00 for the salad). Our server was very friendly and efficient. Ample parking on site. We'll definitely be back!

It was absolutely horrible the place was dirty and the service was terrible. Ourwaitress seemed as though she could't be bothered waiting on us. The next thingI see is the same waitress sitting at a table chatting with customers. We confrontedher to tell her we would to her to take our order, but she continued to stay at thetable and chat. I have been going to your restaurant for over 30 years, but will neverever step foot into your restaurant again.

Since my last review, I've tried more menu items over many return visits and would like to share an update with you guys:- Service Comment 1: Based upon my experience, do not expect your food to be ready until several or many minutes after you are told that it will be ready. I would say that, on average, it takes about 50% longer for my food to be ready than is predicted. There have been times when I've had to wait half an hour in the small waiting area, after arriving very close to the time when I was told that the food would be ready. Although I am not happy with that, I have just factored an expectation of this into my plans (e.g., I always plan on having something to read, when I head here for a pickup).Service Comment 2: Staff phone etiquette might seem a bit abrupt to some, but you will get used to it, if you accept that it is unintended and is partly due to language/cultural differences, and also because they seem to have a very busy, brisk business most of the time, which has them chronically backed up with orders (thus Service Comment 1).Service Comment 3: After a few visits, the front counter person will probably start referring to you by name (or nickname) and will remember your likes and dislikes. She does try to be nice, even though she's rushed to help get orders out.Food Comments: The Egg Foo Young here is my favorite anywhere. I recommend asking for the gravy on the side. Pork Lo Mein is good. Szechuan Chicken would be really good, if they'd cut back on the onions a bit and increase the other veg. that the menu says is in this dish. General Tso's Chicken is usually pretty good but is just on the edge of having too much breading for me. I have tried dishes here with breaded beef, and I really DISKLIKED them (too much breading on very chewy pieces of beef). Recently, for a change, tried the Gai Ding, which is advertised as "diced chicken with vegetable and almond." It was clear from mere inspection of what we received that there were no almonds (cashews were used) and that one of the vegetables was cucumbers. We weren't expecting to like it, but it wasn't bad. Eggrolls are pretty good (not the best I've had).Overall, I still like this place, and it continues to sit at the top of my list of favorite Chinese carry-outs that are conveniently located for me.

For those who like large portions, you may like this place more than I did. I ordered a green salad and got at least a whole head of lettuce. But that was all it was. Nothing but lettuce and enough for about 4 people. I also ordered wonton soup, and got a huge bowl. . .again way more than one person could eat. There was also not a lot of seasoning. We were looking for something light. . .some soup, salad and a couple sushi rolls. That and the rolls we got were OK. Not horrible, not great. My friend got a ramen noodle soup with crispy chicken. He expected the chicken in the soup, but it was only a large bowl of broth and noodles with a few scallions and a whole fried chicken breast on the side. It was not what he expected. Service was also not great and everything came out almost at the same time, so we couldn't eat things in the order we might have wanted without other things getting cold.The next night we went to Fusion, my favorite sushi restaurant in this area, and there we had a really delicious meal.

This is an average Japanese restaurant, The sushi is nothing spectacular. The special rolls are covered with sauces. The sashimi selections on the fishes are limited. Overall, the menu is limited and the taste of everything is ordinary. Also, the restaurant has no liquor licence but there is a liquor store next store. They offer a decent variety of cold sake. This is a so-so, nothing special restaurant just happens to serve Japanese food. A neighbourhood place but not worth a drive to go there.

Okay, call me a sushi snob, but I never thought of Timonium as a place to find really good sushi (I went to the State Fairgrounds there for a train show!). But I did a quick search for someplace to grab lunch, and the reviews convinced me to try Yamato Sushi. A good call indeed!When I got there, it was pretty well packed, but I was able to get a seat at the sushi bar. I ordered a la carte, sampling both nigiri and maki sushi. I was impressed, the tuna roll was perfectly formed, with plenty of fresh maguro inside. And the nigiri was also very nice, with a good ratio of rice to fish.Prices were reasonable and the service was excellent, and I had the feeling of being in an old-school sushi bar. Except, that is, for the wild variety of rolls. The assortment of ingredients that get tucked inside a sheet of seaweed boggle oneâs mind, and many of these are on the menu at Yamato. However, itâs easy to go traditional here, and thatâs what I did for a very refreshing meal. Iâll be heading back to Yamato whenever I find myself in the area.
