Cafe de Bangkok serves modern Thai cuisine and specialty drinks in downtown Blacksburg, Virginia.
The location is convenient as we had a meal before a show at the Lyric and parked once. Service was cordial and prompt. No problem with making showtime. Started with tasty appetizers including crunchy rolls and tofu delight. Excellent.Ordered several varieties of the rice noodle soups. All freshly prepared and tasty. Serving size very ample.Service was very good. Well worth a return visit.

The boyfriend and I are addicted to this place! Hands down, if you're in town you HAVE to check this place out. It definitely looks seedy and run down, a little sketch-but the food is BANGIN'!! Nice sized proportions, enough for two meals! Again, it looks a little rough, but really worth all the hubblah!

Had such high expectations for this place after reading the reviews. I'm from the Hampton Roads area with plenty of bulgogi places . That said anyone knows bulgogi is pieces of rib eye beef. Pieces...small pieces but NOT ground beef. There was ground tiny pieces in the bulgogi we ordered and the Bibimbap. The bibimbap also had a busted egg yoke. It was tasty but the texture of the meat ruined it for me . I expected a rounded bowl as the lid on the bowls were rounded but for the almost nine dollar price it was not enough food for the price paid.

We arrived at Sake House with 3 adults and 4 kids (ages 6-12). While my daughter loves sushi, my son had previously decided he did not like sushi having never tried it. From the start, this seemed like an questionable choice for our crew. We were amazed though- food was SO amazing that even the non-sushi eaters were eating sushi. I wish I could remember all the names of the sushi rolls so that I could recommend them. One was Hawaiian themed, another might have been the Hokie Roll, and I can't remember the name of the 3rd. Great experience though and I would highly recommend giving it a try! Next time I'm in Blacksburg, I will be there!

Mostly you will find Chinese students eating here, which I think is more a reflection of the low prices rather than being authentic Chinese. However there is also an extensive handwritten menu on the wall all in Chinese characters, so perhaps we da-bizi are missing out on something. Worth a try if you haven't already
I loved the food,it is spicy if you like spicy foods. You can ask for the mild version of the same dishes. We were a party of four and they brought the food out one person's dish at a time, several minutes in between each order, the last one ten minutes after the last dish,We had to ask for refills on our drinks

Lunch was quick and good. Its the kind of place where you might by two items to make a combo lunch. Prices are very reasonable. Small area for sit down, but the take out appeared to be hopping. We tried a soup and a cold noodle. Excellent.

My wife and I have ate here many times. Last visit ordered drunken noodles with chicken. It had very little chicken. I doubt it had even a tablespoon of chicken in it. Also sparse on the peppers. I think they are cutting corners and serving less food for the price.

I'm quick to say that breakfast is not an overly complicated meal in most cases and reviewers often overstate how good a place is because they already love breakfast food. I fall prey to that sometimes also but in this case, I think Gillie's is very much in the very good category. We found all our meals to be tasty and fresh. I think the potatoes in particular were very good. The fruit was fresh, even for late March. I wanted oatmeal which they were out of. I've had better biscuits and the grits were pretty bland. Overall though, the menu has good options for meat eaters and vegetarians alike and it feels very much like a local place which is always a good thing.Service wasn't great. Our server told us that 2 things were not available that actually were (it was corrected) but was nice and pleasant none the less.I would go back and believe in supporting these type of local places.Park anywhere you can. The only parking is on the street or in available lots a short walk away. Seems to be packed frequently, especially at peak times.
