The Wilmot Stage Stop is off the beaten path and I would not have known about it unless my cousin recommended it. I was in the area and was looking for a good meal.I had a filet mignon topped with sauteed mushrooms. The baked potatoes are served with almost 1/2 stick of butter, sour cream and chives! The salads are served with 3 different dressings (French, Roquefort, and Thousand Island), all of which are made in-house. The Roquefort is especially delicious. The whole meal was delicious and the service was EXCELLENT! I would highly recommend this restaurant if you find yourself in the area. I would probably recommend this as a destination stop. Our waitress has been there for 28 years, and the restaurant changed hands a couple of years ago. From what our waitress said, the new owners took the restaurant back to the way it was in the past. The 2nd floor is a museum of items from the a800's when the building was an actual Stage Coach Stop. The 3rd floor has 10 small rooms that were the old boarding rooms. There are items from the time period in each of the locked rooms. Each door has a window to see the contents of the room.

Have to admit I didn’t know what a fish boil is and coming from the west coast, thought it would contain a variety of fish. It very well may have but it all looked like the same pieces of white fish. Yes, it was tasty, but a plateful of boiled fish seems strange to me. We also ordered the bbq chicken, 2 pieces served at a time unless you ask for more. I could see the giant bbq area outside but that made me wonder all the more why the chicken comes drenched in bbq sauce. Guess I just have to get on board with the WI interpretation of what bbq chicken is. Again, the chicken was good but prefer adding my own sauce if I want it.An old Victorian looking home has been converted to dining rooms with a buffet line on each of the two floors. A server dishes out your food with choices including boiled potatoes, creamy close slaw, fish, chicken, or ribs, or a combo of fish and ribs. My recollection is fish and chicken dinners are $15 each, ribs are $16, and the combo plate $19. CASH ONLY. An ATM located in the restaurant. Pick your main course and pay for it before being seated. No switching main courses. Hubby and I each chose different items then tasted from one another’s plate.Dinner also comes with bread and butter, and apple slice pastry for desert, a sign beside the pastry says something to the effect of one per diner. A full bar is available but we all drank water. Not sure if dinner includes any other beverage. Go through the buffet line as often as you like. Rooms are very dimly lit. No reservations accepted. Expect a brief wait if you come 20-30 minutes after opening. For a place that serves buffet style I expected more than aluminum pans with warmers to keep food hot. You may wait for main dishes to be restocked on the line. Hubby went back 3 times before he could get fish boil seconds. I can see how popular a place this is but frankly, I just don’t get it.

The restaurant has a challenge to entice former customers that had come back when it was run under various names. My wife and I have been here several times over the years when it was run by various proprietors. The current rendition is very welcomed. The current proprietor is a chef by trade and has started out with a modest menu while occasionally offering daily specials and recently just expanded the menu. On our last visit, we came on the 4th of July. I made a reservation earlier that day and we were promptly seated on the patio which overlooks Lake Mary. The restaurant was busy but our waitress was on top of her game. Because we have been here a few times already, we had our meal preselected. We ordered the Beef Sandwich which consisted of several layers of sliced beef on an Italian loaf topped off with a slice of cheese. Alright, nothing fancy but after seeing this served at a previous meal, we had to order it. The sandwich was accompanied by our choice of Tator Tots. The sandwich is enormous and was more than ample for the two of us. We look forward to going back to experience more of the chef's creation.

I have eaten here for many years and is always great. Tuesdays they offer a Mexican Night with specials as well as fantastic Taco's. Friday night is their famous Fish Fry and Saturdays is Prime Rib plus other specials. If ever looking for a banquet venue they have a beautiful outdoor covered pavilion with excellent offerings. Weddings in the Spring, Summer and early Fall are wonderful. It is worth a call to schedule a consultation to see what they can do.

It's just prebought food. The only thing I even think was homemade was the dumpling soup. I went with my grandaughter. We started off with cheese curds. Tasted like the ones you buy in the freezer section of a grocery store. My burger patty was premade and very thin. My grandaughter ordered grilled cheese and fries. A thin piece of cheese was between two black pieces of bread. The sandwhich was hard. The fries....frozen ones. It wasn't any cheaper than going to a better restaurant.

Manny's Snack Shack

Cute little "shack" across from Mary Lake. Offers breakfast/lunch. Large servings, reasonable prices. Yummy food!

Manny's is a great lakeside greasy spoon that is very busy in the summer months for good reason. Large, tasty portions are the norm with huge omelettes and sides of hashbrowns. Manny calls out orders from the griddle behind the counter and I love it. Do yourself a favor and order the cinnamon roll French toast as an appetizer to share before your breakfast.
