After a wonderful meal at Alexander's in November 2018, we returned last night for a Valentine's Dinner. It was a very different experience. Although the service was very good, and they tried to be attentive, I was not the only diner I heard answering "it's okay" to "How is everything?" Frankly, okay is not good enough when you are shelling out $380 for dinner for 2, and I say this as someone who regularly dines at top restaurants in London, regularly spending £300 - £400. It sounded like it had been a very busy day - it was Valentine's Day to be fair - and many of the staff had worked long shifts. However we waited half an hour for our main course after the starters. My husband's steak was very dry, and mine was underdone. Also, I know the dinner is supposed to be a treat, and they were very good about leaving things off we didn't want (no bacon on the salad etc), but the vegetables were utterly drenched in butter. Flavours were wonderful, but if half the butter had been used the vegetables still would have tasted amazing. Top marks for the popcorn crab starter which my husband and I shared. I only had a couple as they are, of course, fried, but the crab was absolutely amazing. It's a very nice touch to have tiny fruit jellies, fudge and cotton candy at the end of the meal. They also gave a very high quality long stemmed rose to the ladies at the end of the meal as it was Valentine's, a lovely touch.Top marks for effort, but at the price, will we return? I'm honestly not sure. And just a side note, I think it's amazing to have gender neutral bathrooms, but unfortunately they weren't very clean. At an establishment like this, particularly if all sexes are using the same restrooms, it's important to check that they are clean regularly.

I started coming here for their desserts. My mom is obsessed with their Napolean and they come in different flavors throughout the week. I think our favorite is the raspberry one. The dessert paired with a nice cup of coffee is great for a rainy day afternoon.Later after they moved closer to my home, I discovered their entrees. I love their pastas and salads. They are beautifully made to order and taste so fresh and light. The entrees are more California style and plenty of food for one, even after a crazy workout down the street. I recommend the salmon salad or shrimp pasta.

Outside seating near the farmers market on Saturdays adds to the already great atmosphere. Delicious food, especially brunch options. Have been here a few times and had their omelette, Nutella French toast, home style fries. Surprised by great quality of coffee too.

Came here with my wife, a professional chef and foodie. The owner's parents own the Bay Area Prolific Oven bakery chain. The burgers are ground on-site from antibiotic- and hormone-free cows and served on a a delicious brioche bun. I ordered a Nom Burger ($13) and portobello fries as an appetizer. The portobello fries were incredible. The burger itself was medium rare, juicy, and delicious. I don't usually crave a burger, but if I'm in the area when I do, I will certainly return.

We've been to Country Gourmet many times. It's one of my parents' go to restaurants. On this visit I had chicken enchiladas, my husband had catfish and rice, my dad had shrimp and pasta and my mom had Mary's chicken. The enchiladas were good but quite mild. My husband really liked the catfish but would have liked more fish and less rice. My mom always likes Mary's chicken and my dad said the shrimp was great. Service was good.

Not great value for money. Service was friendly and efficient but the food was only so-so. My family and I had a mix of fish and chips and another sautéed fish dish. The fish and the sides were all dry and over cooked. More akin to food that was pre-prepared and sitting under a heat lamp for too long. This is a chain restaurant that we’ll pass on next time.Lowsfo - Thank you for taking the time to let us know about your dining experience. The general manager of the Santa Clara Restaurant, Kelli, would appreciate the opportunity to discuss it with you. Please email me a way to contact you at [email protected] I hope to hear from you soon. Kirk

We went for my son’s 6th birthday. We ordered the cheese fondue, kids Mac and chocolate truffle (hold the salt) fondue. The cheese was good. Fondue order was for 4. Came with 2 bowls of white and black bread cubes, 4 gherkins, 4 cherry tomatoes, 4 pickled onions, 4 olives, 4 pieces of mushroom, 4 pieces of apple, 4 olives, 4 pieces of broccoli. You could ask for a second serving of the vegetables. The Mac and cheese was straight out of the blue box and came with a side of near east rice pilaf. But the chocolate fondue was spectacular. Rice crispy treats, profiteroles, cream cheese bites, wafer rolls, bananas, grapes, pineapple, honeydew , strawberries, pretzels, marshmallows etc... was incredible and so much fun for my kids. Waiter was really nice. Went when it opened and it got busy pretty fast. Def would recommend!

I was looking for a place to host an informal dinner following a memorial service. The TripAdvisor reviews on this place lead me to believe it would be tough to get in here, and tougher still to find enough seating for a group that could be up to 16 people. But this location was perfect, near our hotel. The menu had something for everyone. I decided to book an early reservation for 8 people (the most you could do on-line) using Open Table and then establish an Open Table account for my wife so she too could make a reservation for 8. As it turned out, no reservation was probably needed. The restaurant doesn't open until 5:00 which is about the time our group started to show up. Over time our group morphed to 24 people. Not to worry, we had one waitress dedicated to our group so ordering, food delivery and settling bills ended up being seamless. I could not be more impressed with the level of service. The building itself is a beautiful architectural masterpiece. Adjacent to the restaurant is a small pond with, on this day, Canadian geese and mallards with their broods of newly born babies toddling behind. I know they list this place as a brewery, and indeed the freshly brewed beers were good, but the food, the service and the ambiance of the place made it seem more like fine dining. Thank you so much for joining us and taking the time to leave us a review. We're happy to hear everything went perfect for you and your party. We appreciate the thorough review, cheers!
