This is the best food value in the Pismo area. My wife had the Filet Mignon and I had the Scallops (a DOZEN on top of pilaf). Just Wonderful! You get soup, salad, beans, salsa, potatoes, and an after-dinner "dessert" of either a Tan Ferrari or Rootbeer Float. The atmosphere is Western and cool (unless you don't like stuffed animals). (This is a far cheaper alternative to F McClintocks on Mattie Rd.) We will return! We went on the early side, around 5 pm to avoid crowds. The service was fast and friendly. It's convenient to the 101 Freeway just south of the Outlet Mall. You will not leave hungry, but may take food home!

Rooster Creek Tavern

We’ve dined here several times and the food is not impressive. Yesterday we went again, and I was hoping the “new menu” meant improved food but sadly it is just as mediocre as before. I’m not sure how or why they get any good reviews at all! I was reminded of what I said before about this place, go for DRINKS ONLY. And sit out on the patio (because there’s big screen TVs blaring inside, I hate that). The food we had yesterday was pretty bad. “Lobster” rolls on stale buns with some sort of seafood salad that looked and tasted suspiciously like imitation crab and was SO SALTY it was almost inedible. And the tuna melt, gross. Good bread on this one but they slathered olive tapenade on the sandwich which completely overwhelmed any other flavors and ruined it (oh and also too salty). I don’t know who came up with that combo of putting olive tapenade on a tuna sandwich but it was so off and didn’t work at all. Slimy, rotting salad in the side salad. All and all a waste of money and we’ve learned our lesson. No more ordering food at Rooster.

Nice service. Good food. We met friends who also happened to be in the area and had breakfast. Friendly waitress told us no rush. Place is small and we had to sit outside and were challenged to keep shaded as one who has had lots of skin cancer, but was able to tuck myself into a shaded place.

Whilst staying at the Kon Tikki Inn, we were really keen to try Cracked Crab out so walked along the beach and arrived at around 6.15 pm expecting to wait. There was around a 40 minute wait (that was fine, we sat outside and watched the world go by with a drink). For dinner, we ordered two of the infamous seafood buckets for 5 of us. We chose Snow Crab and Alaskan King Crab, huge prawns and mussels and it also came with spicy sausage, corn, potatoes and warmed rolls with butter and lemon. Service was excellent and waitress gave us tools to extract the crab, put our bibs on and then put a clean disposable tablecloth on our table. A few minutes later and she then proceeded to dump the buckets of crab on our table much to our amusement. The buckets are expensive at $79 each but two buckets satisfied our family of 5 including two hungry teenage boys, food was delicious, restaurant has a good vibe and it was such a fun family experience.

The Spoon Trade

We were visiting Pismo Beach area for a beach volleyball tournament. Upon recommendation from a local, we thought we'd give Spoon Trade a try. Chef uses locally grown products, independently owned restaurant, you bet we will support you.Our group ordered the 1/2 lb hamburger ($16), linguini, deviled eggs (6 for $6), onion soup, and fried chicken and waffles ($25). The folks that ordered the burgers all loved it. Great quality beef and cooked perfectly. The linguine, although a small portion was great too. The chicken and waffles was by far the best entree. It's kinda unique in that the dish includes some funky kimchi. Not sure why it's included, but a couple of us tried it and spit it into our napkins, Yuck! It's rather pricy compared to the other entrees on the menu. The only dislike we had was 2 orders of deviled eggs, Yuck!. Way too much dijon mustard! 4 people tried the deviled eggs and all 4 disliked them. We probably should have complained, but we didn't. Service was friendly and helpful. The place was busy by 6pm.

We could tell little kids and big kids were loving he experience of eating their meals in a train. Rock N Roll Diner is super close to the beach and it's easy to grab something to go, if you're in a hurry, like we were.

Had a really nice meal at Ember in Arroyo Grande before going to a concert as part of the Mozaic festival. Very crowded with local folks and they don't take reservations as far as i know so get their early. My friend had the salmon and she said it was excellent. I had pizza and my husband had the abalone starter. Both really good. Menu changes with the season. Quite lively so a bit noisy to have quiet conversations, but food made it really worthwhile.
