The Duck Inn is a favorite lunch and Dinner spot for me ( they also serve breakfast) The dinner and bar are separate but their great food is served in both. You care an also get a cocktail in the diner. The food is standard dinner and quite tasty. The service is FANTASTIC. I alway order the honey chicken pita wrap with tater tots, a huge salad or one of their many burgers.

Okay who ever said schnitzels were healthy? We do watch our diets but really enjoyed our meals! One drives through to order and then parks behind the restaurant and after a short wait, your food is delivered. We chose to go home because the weather didn't make eating there an option. We were shocked to find our meals piping hot when we arrived home. Ordering was easy as the friendly gentleman did a great job of explaining our options of which some change on a daily basis . All three choices were ample---actually could be shared, and delicious. Would we come again? Yes but we would have had to be faithful for a week beforehand. I'm thinking if I were a visitor and tired of motor home dinners, this would be a great change! What could the owners do to improve number of dinners? Enhance the outdoor dining area with wind protection and maybe a heater---trimmed grass area. I'd like to see this business be a "keeper" for the peninsula.

I went by after they closed. But they served me. Had beef stroganoff and damn that was good. Tasted so good. Also grabbed these ham and cheese rolls. Kinda like hot pockets. But handmade. Took for breakfast and lunch next day while fishing. They were good cold. I can only imagine what it was like hot. This isn’t your normal “homemade” you see everywhere. This is a family owned place. Where the food actually tastes like your mom made it. If she was a great cook. Don’t let the plain store look fool you. I found a gem that I wasn’t even looking for. I suggest trying it out you won’t be disappointed Thank you so much! I remember you coming in and I believe from across the street. It was wonderful to chat with you about your trip and I'm beyond happy that you enjoyed everything...even cold. Hope to see you again when if your travels bring you down to the Peninsula. Take care,Sherri McVey

The view from the Bistro overlooks the Kenai River flats. This you can see a grassy wetland area that is close to the highway with occasional waterfowl and wildlife. It’s very peaceful and serene and provides the sense of seclusion. All this is very nice. The food we had is good but simply stated it’s overpriced by my standards. Still a nice place for a romantic date or evening out.

We had reservations for early evening. The hostess greeted us and gave us excellent seating. Server arrived and provided great suggestions with prompt and friendly service. The food was great for most of us - prime rib, fried fish and (not) chips (french fries), scallops with mushroom sauce, and bolgnese something. Except for the unfortunate who ordered the Bolgnese noodles, we all thoroughly enjoyed our meals. My dish was the scallops and mushroom sauce. I will have it again and gladly recommend it to anyone else. Our desserts included cheesecake, chocolate mousse, and creme brulee. All good. Plus before meals cocktails. Really, except for the Bolgnese thingy, excellent everything. And not to disparage the Bolgnese...if you are interested in a simple cottage style meal, that might be just the thing you want.

Stopped here for lunch on our way to Homer. A nice little cozy sports bar with several tVs on the walls. College football and baseball. The menu was very descriptive in word and photo and we ordered almost everything to share: wedge salad, rib dinner with fries, fried chicken wingsl The fries were outstanding: crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. They were all real potatoes --different lengths -- and not the fast food oddly all identical potatoes you see so often. The wings were good as were the meaty ribs. The BBQ sauce was not too sweet and not too thick and cloying but could have used a dash or two of hot sauce to give it a bit more personality. Naturally, we could not finish what we ordered and packed up the leftovers. The server was super friendly and accommodating and brought me a sip of one of the wines so I could taste it and see if I liked it.We look forward to stopping here again on our long drive between Anchorage and Homer.

Fabulous! Our YMT tour guide highly recommended this family owned eating establishment for top notch BBQ and we are so glad he did! We had the beef brisket sandwich and it was delicious and tender! The fries and cole slaw were tasty and homemade! The portions were ample--the soda pop is big enough for two! The service is friendly and fast!

Rocky's Cafe

This is a little roadside cafe right near the Kasiloff River in Alaska along the Sterling Highway. Our party of 4 hit this one twice and enjoyed our meals both times. They have a very generous and skillful cook staff. They were, however, kind of understaffed in the service department or just slow. Our wait was longer than needed for initial service but the food came in good time once we were able to place our order. I would have rated it a 5 if the service had been better. Their burgers, patty melts and breakfasts were great. One of the gals in our group had a big salad and it was delicious as well. This is a good stop between Homer and Cooper's Landing and with the big helpings of food, you can last all the way to Anchorage. Based on my two experiences there I don't hesitate to recommend it to travelers in the area. It is about 200 yds. from the Kasiloff River.
