Really great beer selection and tons of spirits as well. The food was fantastic and the wings are enormous (lots of breading tho). The sandwich (Wow chicken) was good but the service was lacking. It was a Wednesday night and the crowd seemed bigger than they anticipated. I’d come back and give them another try.

Bill's Diner

Reviewed By Larry B

It was a cold, rainy night in Bradley Illinois and I thought a diner would be a good choice for dinner as comfort food seemed welcoming. I read the reviews for Bill's Diner and decided to go there and I am glad I did. I was seated immediately and handed a paper with the nights specials, which numbered about 10 and each only $9.99. I chose from the regular menu however because i wanted Chicken Parmesan. My choice included either a salad or soup and when I heard they had Navy Bean soup I ordered that. When the soup came it was piping hot, a full bowl and deliciously home made! So many places I have gone serve lukewarm soup and a small cup, but here it was outstanding in every way. They had my approval with the soup course! My Chicken Parmesan was a very generous portion, served with tasty spaghetti and also hot. Bill's diner "Hit the Mark" for me on a cold rainy evening and I'm sure does so no matter the climate outside. I will return again when in the area.

We stuffed ourselves at this unpretentious bar and grill. My husband had corned beef hash, eggs, and two fluffy pancakes. I had the country fried scramble. It came in a pasta bowl, with country potatoes on the bottom, then a layer grilled onions and chunks of chicken fried steak, scrambled eggs, finally topped with sausage gravy. I dug in, planning to leave half of the potatoes in the bowl, but my resistance broke down. Good gravy! The coffee was also quite good. The atmosphere is part coffee shop, part local bar.

Jaenicke's Root Beer Stand

Reviewed By Taylor B

There are many reasons to visit Jaenicke's Root Beer Stand at 390 East River Street, off I-57, in Kankakee, Illinois. People have been visiting the iconic restaurant since 1940, long before there was an Interstate highway or McDonald's or Burger King or Wendy's or A&W or Dog 'n Suds. Jaenicke's specializes in home-made root beer, as good or better than A&W drive-ins used to produce, red hots with chili, Chicago-style hot dogs, chili cheese fries, fried pickles, ice cream floats and something unique called "sauce buns." What is a "sauce bun?" Folks in the Kankakee area talk about them all the time. Never duplicated. Never imitated. One of a kind. A "sauce bun" is chili that has a sweet and mild BBQ sauce taste. It isn't served on a hot dog. It's simply a meat sauce with cheese and onions on a warm hot dog bun. Try it with fries and a root beer float. It might change the way you look at food. One thing's for sure: Jaenicke's homestyle root beer is as good as you've ever tasted, in a frosty mug. If you're not into hot dogs (who isn't?), other sandwich options are tenderloin, chicken, Italian beef, BBQ, meatball and Polish. No matter what you choose, be sure to wash it all down with root beer.

We dined with good friends and everyone had something different, and all was very good. Sooo tired of chains, that are just ok at best, it's nice to have a decent restaurant with a great selection, good atmosphere at a fair price. You can spend more at a chain for less quality. Thank you chef and crew!! I've already told people about you.

Burgers & Beer

Reviewed By toddmcd17

This place has an extensive menu and if you don’t see something you like, you can make your own burger. With burgers they offer fries, curly fries, tots, and chips. The burgers are amazing and come out of the kitchen quick. It is a family and kid friendly restaurant as it gets a little loud. The location isn’t the best and it’s really dark in the parking lot but if those are the only gripes, I’m okay with that :)
