Jimmy Madison’s near JMU is a clean, basic pub in a nice college town. The menu is a little fancier than your basic pub food. Several of their dishes revolve around smoker meats such as brisket and pulled pork. Tasty. Unfortunately the pretty shrimp and grits dish was so spicy that it was difficult to eat.

We ate here based on a recommendation from one of the hosts at our bed and breakfast. We were quite pleased. The restaurant is right in downtown Harrisonburg and parking can be a bit tricky. However we found a fairly close spot right on one of the nearby side streets. We were there on a Summer Thursday night and the place was not very busy--but we could see that it might be packed (and noisy) on a weekend when the University is in session. The service was excellent. The food was very good (I had their Bistro steak and my wife had their grilled salmon). I should comment on their drink menu. Not seen very often in the US, their menu included Caipirinhas, a delicious Brazilian drink which we had first encountered in Costa Rica. Clementine's Caipirinhas were delicious--prepared exactly as were the one's we first had several years ago. We very much enjoyed our drinks and dinner. The only negative for us was being seated at a high top table. They had other open tables and I should have asked for one of those. I will next time because we find all high top tables, including those at Clementines to be somewhat uncomfortable. Nonetheless, we can recommend Clementine's heartily.

As the name suggests, this restaurant supports local food producers (over 50%). The decor has a funky, easy feel with an open kitchen. Breakfast (blue berry pancakes with real maple syrup and an egg white veggie omelet) were fresh made and delicious. Gluten free bread is also available.

I never ever give a buffet an excellent review but this one earned it! It was clean and the selection of food was amazing! Choices galore. I really enjoyed the sweet potato they offered. If they have fried green tomatoes when you go I highly recommend! So good! I look forward to visiting this over the next four years while my daughter is at JMU!

Nice one of a kind burger establishment. Chose it based off Yelp ratings...I would say they are about accurate. The place is small. very limited seating inside with maybe two tables. The bar is first come first served...there is seating outside...for that you have to check in with the host. I choose the Special of the day - Mac/Cheese burger (supposedly) what they are know for, wife had the Elvis Burger (topped with peanut butter), and Kid had Rickety Cricket. All were good with a homemade smell and taste. The Mac/Cheese burger was not at the top of the list. However, my son went the next day and did order the Mac/Cheese burger and said it was better that day the the day before. The other two were awesome. The Elvis burger was layered perfectly and with the Rickety Cricket, the grilled onions basted in tabasco sauce was a great refreshing mixture. This place is definitely worth the try...When back in town, I will be stopping by again.

This is in a somewhat uninspiring strip mall underneath an apartment building. Not much to the location. Interior is dark Irish pub but is small, cramped and a bit dated.Food was just average. Fries were apparently of the frozen and not fresh cut variety, various salads were not bad but not great and the cabbage in my corned beef and cabbage was crunchy and undercooked and the broth was more of a salty syrup.Don’t see the fuss at all about this place, even for Harrisonburg.

We celebrated our 50th wedding anniversary by having dinner here. It was the perfect place with a perfect dinner. I had the seasonal salad which had arugula, sliced peaches, bacon, goat cheese crumbles, served with peach vinaigrette dressing...delicious. For our entrees, my husband had the 8 oz sirloin steak with whipped gold potatoes and braised green beans, and I had the chicken breast with baked mac n cheese and braised green beans. Both entrees were served to perfection. We selected the Chophouse brownie sundae served with vanilla bean ice cream for our dessert. The chef wrote ‘Happy Anniversary’ across the plate in chocolate to finish off a wonderful celebration. They have very little parking but do have valet parking, and our car was there waiting for us when we left the restaurant. We were surprised to find such an elegant restaurant in Harrisonburg and were delighted we were able to have our special anniversary dinner here. I would definitely go back and highly recommend this restaurant, especially for special occasions.

The Grilled Cheese Mania was worth trying out. Perhaps it was not what I expected, since there was limited space to sit inside. In addition, the inside was extremely hot and could not see myself working there in those conditions without any air conditioner. Outside, there is some limited seating options, but it was challenging to avoid the sun hitting you from one angle or another (even with the umbrellas in place). Sandwiches are probably worth ordering to take out, but not sure that I would recommend having it inside/outside based on weather conditions. I would probably not return, but it is worth trying at least one time.Yes, we do have limited seating inside we are just a small Grilled Cheese House and that is all the seating the town would allow us. We have plenty of picnic tables outside, but like you said sometimes it is too hot to eat outside. We have come along way from our food truck with just two picnic tables perhaps one day we will have more but for now we enjoy what we have. We have had an issue with customers shutting off our air conditioner in the dining room and we did not know about it causing the space to get pretty hot. I apologize for that. I'm happy you enjoyed our food and I do hope you will give us another try one day.Blessings,Kathleen

We stopped here to eat in their restaurant but it (the bistro) was closed due to a wedding. Since they advertise the restaurant, we didn't think we needed to call ahead to see if it would be open.Instead we sat outside and enjoyed the view with some wine and a fruit/cheese platter. Then we were told to move because half of the patio was closed for the wedding as well. It would have been nice if signs were up that said "reserved."We found their wines to be quite good -- and the fruit/cheese platter was very nice -- but many of the staff were very snooty. A few smiled and seemed friendly. The wind blew out part of an umbrella at a table nearby & some of it fell on a couple. A worker cleaning up a nearby table didn't say a thing. We will return to give it a second chance. We can only hope we'll have friendlier service next time. If not, we'll go elsewhere in the future. Jim, thank you so much for visiting with us! We are so happy to hear that you enjoyed our wine and hope that you'll come back soon so that we can ensure a more pleasant experience for you! We take our customer service very seriously and pride ourselves on treating our guests like family and therefore sincerely appreciate this feedback!
