I go here a couple times month for lunch. My favorite thing to order is the spring rolls. They are so fresh and served with peanut sauce. So delicious and healthy too!

Emma Krumbee's Restaurant & Bakery

We always enjoy coming to this restaurant. It has old fashioned decor and friendliness. The wait staff are always pleasant and smile. We order one entree and an order of pancakes --and share. Good size portions.
In the fall they have an added attraction. We tried going in their pumpkin patch with all the scarecrows once but thought the prices were too high. Too high for a family of six.

Johan's Bar

Reviewed By Dead Skunk S - Twin Cities, MN

A group of a dozen stopped in to Johan's for a quick rest and hydration stop on a motorcycle trip to St. Peter. We were there for a short time when it started to rain hard. We waited and waited and eventually wrote off the trip to St. Peter and we spent four hours and a lunch at Johan's. Not a lot of riding, but it was fun.

From the outside, Johan's is not much to look at. Inside, the place is a typical small town bar that's frayed around the edges. The great thing about Johan's is the patio. It's a decent size, covered and screened. We sat outside, smoked, ate and drank without getting wet or bitten by mosquitoes.

The wait staff was friendly and efficient. Our waitress got all of our orders straight and she kept checking in on us to see if we needed anything.

The bar has a small beer list with some decent choices. The Tequila choice was limited to two. Garbage and over priced Patron. The wine choice was low brow individual bottles.

The food is typical bar food. Burgers, sandwiches, pizza and appetizers. The fried mozzarella sticks were better than expected. They were thicker than your average frozen stick and the cheese was soft and gooey. The marinara sauce that came with it was your average jar or canned sauce.

My grilled chicken buffalo sandwich was good. A small/medium size breast on a 4 inch bun. The chicken was juicy and tasty. A more generous helping of sauce would have been better. The french fries were frozen crinkle cuts that arrived a bit on the cool side. They were also under salted, which I usually like because I like to add my own salt to taste. However, salt only sticks to fries when they are hot and fresh out of the fryer. These fries sat for too long to hold on to any salt.

The chilli was a good size portion (bowl) and topped with plenty of cheese and sour cream. The BLT was served on buttered, grilled Texas toast.

The food, though not great cuisine, did exceed our expectations. The stop turned out to be great.

I did not know that Dairy Queen had incorporated Orange Julius into their menu. What a great surprise. The food is good and the service is typical "Small Town Friendly".

We have visited Pizza Plus many times, starting when they were located at their original location in downtown Belle Plaine. Good pizza in Minnesota is hard to find, and Pizza Plus makes great New York Style pizza. They also have good Italian dishes like hoagies (subs) and pasta dishes. Being an East Coast transplant, I was so happy to find Pizza Plus. It reminds me of the pizza parlors that I grew up with. We've always enjoyed our food and the workers are friendly and fast too. My only sad complaint is that they're no longer open for lunch on weekdays (not sure about weekends).

Not every mac and don's has good sweet tea but this one does. Our newest find at mac and don's is the S.W. salad. Even though the kids prefer the burger and fries the salads have gotten really good and worth the cost.
