Ambergris Caye hovers in a vacation sweet spot: just enough amenities to make it exciting, but not so overdeveloped that you’re tripping over flip-flopped tourists. A mangrove swamp is the eye of this white beach island, the largest in Belize, and golf carts are the main form of transportation along the sandy roads. Reef divers drool over the Belize Barrier Reef and the Blue Hole, a 400-feet deep circle of limestone that teems with angelfish, elkhorn coral, cleaner shrimp and stalactites.

Pier 366 Seafood House sits at the oceanâs edge with a vivid view of the Caribbean seascape. Bask in the trade winds against the picturesque seascape with all the ambiance you always imagined a tropical island should have. French Chef extraordinaire, Laur
We ate here multiple times while we were on vacation and it was terrific each time. There were 5 of us and everyone enjoyed what they ordered. The staff was wonderful, especially Minelia, who kept us laughing while my brother-in-law practiced his Spanish. Also, the gluten-free pizza was awesome.Hey there Leslie J, we're so thrilled to learn that you all enjoyed your meals and experience here. Thanks for checking us out often and taking the time to share this incredible review. I have relayed your high praises to Minelia and it made her day... thank you again for your kind words and we hope to see you all again if you're ever back in town!

The final night of our bachelorette vacation for my best friend was unfortunately wasted at this restaurant. Customer service was extremely disappointing as well as several other important details. We made a reservation for 8 for our group of 8 and opted to sit in the bar area of the restaurant since we are on the loud side, and the restaurant is quiet and romantic. The story began with a surf and turf nightmare I shared with my friend in which we had to send our steak back 3 times. We ordered the fillet medium rare which initially come out well done. After the first send-back, they brought us a completely rawsteak. I cut into it (already knowing it was raw based on the gummy texture!) and then sent it back again! It came back out with my knife cut in it....still rare. Our waiter was nice but nonexistent and we had no water refills the last 1 1/2 hours of our meal.We were recommended by our hotel to go here for the dessert and to order it first (it takes a while to make the yummy chocolate dessert). So thatâs exactly what we did.... and waited almost an hour to get our desserts after we had finished eating our meals. I approached the bartender Lelo to inquire and he completely dismissed me-It was infuriating. He threw petty comments at me (saying we were â1 1/2 hours late for our reservationâ- which we werenât because we had changed it to 8:00 that morning). The comments he made were appalling and had nothing to do with the issues at hand. The CUSTOMER is ALWAYS RIGHT- literally the most important thing you should know in the service industry. This escalated things quickly and he refused to apologize. We finally found a manager (did I mention they brought everyoneâs dessert except for the bride after the 45 minute wait for dessert?!!). So here we are, 3 hours into the meal on our final vacation night with poor service, and they didnât bring the most important person her dessert. Apparently the dish didnât make it out of the oven in one piece... but when they served the whole table their molten chocolate dessert...they skipped her and didnât even communicate the information to us. 10 minutes later they brought her dessert. Literally the most important person you should probably serve dessert to first.....The bartender was a jerk again (our waiter was nowhere to be found) and the staff had a million excuses. We were the only table in the restaurant by this time so we were confused by the time delay and lack of service. They comped us one surf and turf and a chocolate dessert. After the 3 hour meal to nowhere we felt our night out was ruined and went back to our house to hang out instead of going out. Avoid this place at all costs!! The food was decent but in my opinion the price and customer service was inferior when compared to other restaurants we visited on this trip. Based on other negative reviews I have just read, the problem is with not being transparent and putting the customer first. The GMâs comments on other reviews are once again, dismissive. Communication is paramount in customer service... acknowledge and problem solve what the paying customer is communicating to you. Focus on fixing the problem rather than rationalizing/making excuses.Dear Relax287381Thanks for your review of your Diner Nightmare, and your advice based on the negative reviews you read. Some of these negative reviews are valid while others are blatantly specious. We give all reviews the same consideration; some contain valuable, constructive criticism (which is always welcome, giving us, as it does, the opportunity to grow and improve our guestsâ experiences), while others contain nothing of the sort. If the responses to reviews of this sort seem dismissive, itâs because weâve been unable to find anything therein of value to either us or future guests. As is the case with any successful hospitality operation, we understand Cesar Ritzâs exhortation that âThe customer is never wrongâ. Not to say that we donât make errors, as we did on the night you dined. The first steak you were served was overdone, and the second, somewhat underdone. We actually donât serve raw meat, except by special request.Of course the guest of honour should have been served her dessert first when the order was one short due to a breakage in the kitchen. My apologies for these regrettable execution errors - this has been reviewed with both FOH and BOH staff.Contrary to your suggestion, we do put the customer first at Victoria House. Trip Advisor Reviews are currently run 68% Excellent & 23% Very Good (91%) and other feedback is similar. Our goal is to provide each one of our guests with a truly extraordinary experience, and to meet and exceed their expectations.Iâm extremely proud of our employees, including the ones mentioned (either by name or by inference) who were on duty at The Admiral Nelsonâs Beach Bar that evening. They care for their chosen profession and place of work. Theyâve been found to be unflinchingly courteous, considerate and professional, even when they find themselves in a situation where others are the polar opposite, even to the point behaving in a manner disruptive to other guests and using language of the sort that would be justifiable grounds for removal from any respectable premises. Your sliding scale of denigrating comments on my co-workers prompted me to review our employee roster only to find that we donât have any jerks on the payroll, petty or otherwise. Brent Kirkman GM

Had dinner here on our stay. The atmosphere was fun and inviting. Loved the sand floor!Big menu with many choices.. too many. Everything sounded great, so hard to choose.Cornbread served as a starter was scrumptious.Grilled octopus, just perfect. My main course was ok. Had the famous fried chicken. It was good, not greasy ( a plus) but maybe lacked a bit of spice..?? The service was attentive and friendly. My husband loved his blackened fish. Will try and go back again if we get a chance.

We stumbled upon Nook on Sunday while trying to find a place to eat breakfast. The place we had opted to visit was closed, so we just started walking. I recognized the name when I saw it as several people here had recommended it. Though it doesnât look like much (I think there are only about 10 tables in the open air restaurant), the food was outstanding. I had the huevos rancheros, and my girlfriend had Kristineâs Local Lunch of Love. Both were outstanding. The pork in my girlfriendâs entree was out of this world. I ordered a Bloody Mary. On the menu, it said to ask for horseradish, which I did. The waiter left the table but came back to say they were out of horseradish. He offered to run to the local store to buy some. I declined, but thatâs some kind of service!

This was our second visit to Casa Picasso and we had a nice meal. We decided to order many small dishes to try several items. Although the wine selection was a bit limited, the food was well prepared and tasty. The highlight was the mushroom appetizer and the pork belly. Overall a good meal and convenient from our hotel.Thank you for your review. it was a pleasure having you again. We hope that you return back to Belize and we can serve you again.

Had dinner on a Wednesday night. This restaurant is located about 2.5 miles south of town. It is worth the drive. Itâs very upscale for the island, including white table cloths. It is open air restaurant and it was very comfortable without AC. Menu offers a lot of fish, chicken, beef and other seafood. I had the Chicken Terriaki as I had been eating seafood for days and wanted meat. It was really well prepared, moist and not over cooked breast of chicken, close to 6 ounces. The terriaki sauce was really good and went will with the coconut rice, which is the best I have ever had. I substituted daily veggies with a twice naked potato which was really good. The sink selection is good, but I only had ice tea while my friend had a Cabernet. She had the mini BLT salad which was sizable and really cold and fresh. We were too full from our day so we skipped desert, but we saw several come out and we are going back for the banana pudding ice cream tonightâ

Not only the best tasting breakfast but also the best service from the nicest couple. Highly recommend the chocolate banana pancakes and the light, pull apart French toast covered in a homemade coconut cream sauce and crispy coconut flakes. The owners were friendly and very attentive and continually made sure our coffee was refilled and that we were happy with everything. I stayed in San Pedro for three weeks and ate at plenty of highly rated breakfast places but, with out a doubt, Mesa is the best place to eat at on the island. Do yourself a favor and check this place out early on in your trip because you will be back. Enjoy!
