Not even a year since the opening, only 12 weeks in Tripadvisor and already voted the best restaurant in Sonthofen. Astounding that so many people all at once decided to give Yamas 5 points! The food is excellent; this lady knows how to cook. She manages to give the original greek dishes her special touch and they really do taste much better than many standard versions. Even the simply grilled meat dishes are absolutely perfectly prepared. This location was, for a long time, the very good german restaurant Germania. They closed and a couple of others tried their luck unsuccessfully. In the meantime after stages of renovation, Yamas looks really fine, bright and clean. Parking is a problem, but the Sonthofen underground car park is only a couple of hundred meters away. Well worth a try. Better to reserve a table and even if you have to wait a while when the kitchen is overwhelmed, its worth it. We have visited Yamas probably 5 or six times and the food was always well above average.

We are very lucky in Sonthofen to have 3 greek restaurants. Each one has its own fascination. Poseidon is probably the first established. Many years ago when the present owners took over the premises, it had recently been very extensively renovated; expensive wood paneling of the best quality. This basic ambience has been retained over the years and slowly but surely developed towards a genuine greek feeling. Everything is snug and comfortable. Poseidon is always full which of course is a good sign but then again you have to book! Welcome is the feeling you get on arrival. Service is immediate, friendly and efficient. The menu is just right, not too much, not to little. The food is excellent, well cooked, good products and great taste. The starters, main courses and desserts are all of the same top quality. The prices are fair. One is usually served by the owner who of course can therefore keep her eye on the quality. Why only 4 and not 5 points? Unfortunately there is no place to eat outside. Nevertheless we have visited Poseidon many, many times and will continue to do so.

We had a great meal here, the food was the best Greek we have had and there are plenty of Greek restaurants in Sonthofen! Service was very attentive and it was reasonably priced. The decor is stunning.

The atmosphere in Athen is nice because: it is situated in an old German "Wirtshaus", the owner is friendly, the service personnel are friendly and efficient and the food is constantly good. It is the sort of place where you can remain seated after your meal and maybe drink another beer or two and not feel under pressure to "go when you've finished" as is often the case in other restaurants. The prices are also absolutely OK.

Miltos and his people are working there for quit some time now, always friendly and happy to see you. The food is great, you get a lot and will not be hungry afterwards. Mousakas is splendid my wife says.
