This is definitely one of Cuencaâs finest Italian restaurants. Their pastas are mostly home-made, which if youâve never had home-made, you canât possibly understand how much better that is than store bought! Itâs a cozy place, but large enough for a bigger crowd of folks. Love the pumpkin ravioli! But WHOA, the calories.

My sister and I were doing a little exploring and looking for coffee when we found Marea. We were warmly welcomed and served delicious coffees. We liked the ambiance and friendly staff so much that we returned that night for dinner. We were served a freshly baked warm bread to eat while we waited for the main course. The bread was accompanied by three different dips. Our favorite was the mayonnaise/garlic/parsley dip. I'm not a pizza person, but I loved their pizza! We got half mozzarella and ham and the other half tomato, garlic, and basil. Delicious wood-fired pizza, absolutely incredible! If you find yourself in Cuenca, do yourself a favor and stop here. They also serve Argentinian empanadas!This great opinion gives us the satisfaction to work and commit ourselves with service, quality and providing to all of you dear friends the best experience!! Massimo's trattoria is in a new neighbourhood, a traditional simplistic eatery where you can see the kitchen and smell the food being prepared, and an outdoor patio. Salumeria Vecchia Modena is now located on Paseo de las Canaris continuing to masterfully create fresh, homemade, classic Italian food with love ! An extensive menu of pizzas, lasagne, pastas, salads, and more. We started with four different freshly prepared salsas and fresh artesanal bread. Then we enjoyed traditional prosciutto with melon. Our main plates were home-made pasta and gnocchi. Both were â melt-in-your-mouthâ delicate and the pesto sauce, and orange bursting with exquisite flavour. No room for deserts this time.While not centrally located for visitors to the city, very popular with locals, a visit is highly recommended.

We booked this hotel with the understanding that parking is included. What we didn't expect was that the car park is a block away from the hotel and stopping outside the hotel, to check in, almost impossible, due to the heavy traffic and vigilant wardens. Entering the hotel is striking, as you see the fabulous courtyard in all its glory, but that's as good as it gets. Checking in was fine but our room was disappointing, to say the least. Most rooms do not have an outside facing window, with the windows overlooking the courtyard, with a corridor outside the widow. This affords no privacy, so you need to draw the curtain if you don't want passing people looking in. Rather ominously, there was a note inside the room to say that earplugs were available in reception. Other than that, the room was reasonably comfortable, if on the small side. Our sleep quality was poor, as noise disturbance was intrusive. It was so bad that we asked to change rooms the next morning and were allocated a room on the top floor, with an outside window. This room was not as well furnished but it was quieter and had natural light. Breakfast was included but not very good. The poor state of the crockery and cutlery said it all, not to mention the poor service. We wanted to go into the countryside on the Sunday, only to have great difficulty getting someone to open the car park. Later we were informed that the car park is closed on Sundays. Departing early the next morning was also a lot of bother.

I ordered a quattro stagioni pizza. My friend specified I wanted the crust crispy. I have to say the toppings were really generous, flavorful and satisfying. However, the crust was limp, not at all close to crispy. It could be my friend's Spanish is not quite as good as she thinks or the waiter forgot to pass it on to the kitchen staff. I did enjoy the pizza, but it was not one of the best in Cuenca.One friend ordered spaghetti carbonara. It looked un-decorated. Though he said it was tasty, he regretted not ordering something else. The other friend had some sort of a salad that was brimming with toppings. It looked incredible and a taste testing proved it was.

From the decor to the food. The place is clean and the service is top notch (especially for Ecuador). The place was busy and we still received our food in a very reasonable time. All dishes were great. The bill was very fair as well. We will definitely go back.

I guess there is Cuenca time. Open at 5 means 5:10. At least you can wait in the hotel lobby, which also operates as an extension of the restaurant. Understandably so. The restaurant is small, and given the quality of the food, I can see why, as they draw a good crowd. I ordered the pesto pasta dish with chicken; delicious. Service was also good aside from the late opening. Again, not cheap for pasta and chicken in Cuenca, but worth a visit.

Tutto Matto is a New Yorkâstyle pizzeria in Cuenca, Ecuador. Its Ecuadorian owners lived in New York for several years and operated a successful Italian restaurant there. Now they serve some of the best pizzas in Cuenca for very reasonable prices. They also serve primo hamburgers, Greek and Caesar salads, eggplant parmesan, and much more. Youâll love the large photo-murals on the walls of iconic place in New York.Thanks so much Jeff, for your kind review. It is always a pleasure to take care of you and Sharon, your lovely wife. I've tasted supposedly "great" pizza in Chile, Argentina, Uruguay, Bolivia and Peru. This is the first pizza I've eaten in South America that matches the absolute best that the USA has to offer.
