There was little to chose from on Anzac Day, but this was one place open and serving meals. Later that night a gig was booked, so it might have been a fun night for those who were there.Loved the memorabilia and Irish quirks.Expensive drinks, and very average food.IHi Helen Yes most places close on a public holiday due to the incresed wage costs. We decided to open , despite the fact that we make very little money on a public holiday. We think it is important for Great barrier visitors to have somewhere to go . Bringing bands to the Island isn't cheap either but we also like to offer entertainment to our guests. Pity you thought we were expensive, the public holiday surcharge covers about a third of our increased costs. As for Iris.h Fare, you obviously have never tried traditional Irish Stew

Open Monday’s (from 5pm), Wednesday, Friday and Saturday after 4pm (meals from 6pm).This popular spot is somewhat of a hidden gem. The food is very good and made to order. Indoor and outdoor seating available. Order food on arrival as the wait can be long. Quality delivered by attention to detail in the kitchen. Island pricing as expected we visited twice and will be back the next time we are in the Island. Thank you

Waterfront location, friendly service, with tasty, wholesome food. Our licensed Restaurant Al Carte menu, or alfresco dinning, plus bistro Bar. All with relaxing sea views out to the gulf. Hospitality is our business. Original famous seafood chowder is a

Going by local (Island) recommendations, this establishment was a 'high class must dine' there facility. Our experience dispelled this notion. Service was very average; the menu was only a blackboard menu with a rather limited range of food; water need ed to be asked for. Very plain paper serviettes did little to enhance our expectations of a 'high class establishment'. Food however was well cooked and presented. Mains (around $45+ were a bit overpriced for the establishment we felt.

Visited this with 6 friends to celebrate a birthday. The food choice was limited and several menu items were not available.Service was slow and portions small. The place looks tired and needs refurbishment. As the only restaurant in the north of Great Barrier Island it was a disappointment. Also visited once for drinks.
