An oasis of tranquility in Atlixco
Reviewed By Jere-DePaulPosada loa Alcatraces is a charming small hotel, an easy 10-minute walk from the zócalo. The rooms vary in size and are scattered throughout the property but all are beautifully decorated and each has a gas fireplace which keeps them nice and warm on chilly winter nights. The bathrooms are on the small side but there is plenty of hot water and complimentary toiletries are provided. The rooms and baths are spotlessly clean. We stayed in Room #1 which is the smallest room, but it had ample space, a queen-sized canopy bed, desk, and loveseat. We found it to be cozy and even a bit romantic. There was a covered terrace outside overlooking a beautiful fountain and courtyard, perfect for relaxing and visiting with our friends who were staying next door in Room #2, a larger room with a king-sized bed and a loft. The grounds are lovely with roaming peacocks (during the day), a large swimming pool area and a spa and exercise equipment are provided for the guests. Posada los Alcatraces also has an on-site bar and restaurant. The restaurant and bar are attractive and well-appointed and, while the menu is limited, all of the food was well-prepared and delicious. I especially recommend the chicken pipian. For those who are driving, the hotel has a large, secure parking area. All of the staff were extremely friendly and welcoming and went out of their way to make sure we had an enjoyable stay. If you are planning to visit Atlixco and are looking for a delightful, quiet place to stay, Posada los Alcatraces is definitely your best choice.

One of the best alternatives in Atlixco!

Fortunately, Las Calandrias is one of the good restaurants that have not closed in a long time. They offer a varied buffet, both for breakfast and lunch, with an ample selection of dishes. They also have a service island where you can ask for specific dishes, such as eggs prepared in many ways, tacos, meat cuts, and so on. The price is competitive, and the atmosphere is welcoming. The restaurant is in what once was a "hacienda", and has lots of green areas, peacocks and swans. It also serves a a boutique hotel, ideal for a couple of days of full relax.

Overpriced and overrated
Reviewed By frontera60While the rooms were large and clean, the hotel left a lot to be desired: no hand towels, no proper bath mat, no bottled water in our room (there were supposed to be 2 bottles) nor other drinking water option, no hangers in the closet. Service at the reception was terrible and breakfast was all but inedible (overdone fried eggs, cold, lukewarm and weak coffee). The pool is very small and cold. Plus, it is not located close to the center of town and walking there and back is not considered safe. Overall, a great overpriced disappointment!

Right on the town square, you can stroll at night and enjoy the friendliness of families as they spend time together. The landscape of the square is amazingly well taken care of with lots of color during growing season. Many restaurants of differing ethnic foods all around the square. We prefer a room overlooking the square to take it all in. Staff is friendly and acommodating.

Boiler que no funciona, te cambian de cuarto, al día siguiente por remodelación quitan el boiler de tu habitación... faltan toallas, jabón, papel de baño... y peor, tu estas de vacaciones pero ellos están remodelando, así que a las 8 de la mañana empiezan a trabajar en la remodelación ??? Una lástima! Por los pasillos y dentro de las habitaciones lleno de polvo! Protocolo de limpieza y desinfección por el Covid, quien garantiza??????? Pesima experiencia! Las chicas que trabajan ahí hasta intentan ayudarte pero no pueden hacer milagros...

Reviewed By eduardoalexandrolNo solo arruinaron mis vacaciones familiares también se quedaron con mi dinero el 11 de este mes trate de reservar después de varios intentos por fin lo logré( expedía ) hice la reserva. Entre el sistema y yo que no revise no me di cuenta que en vez de reservar el 13 se reservó el mismo 11 se les notificó y no quisieron regresar el dinero aunque expedía les notifico y se les conmino a hacerlo . Esos dan servicio? Esos se llaman anfitriones ? En vez de ganar un cliente frecuente lo pierden por su avaricia . Seguro puede que te roben en el cuarto y no tomen acción .

Reviewed By abascalitoMe costó mucho trabajo identificar el lugar aún con el GPS. Cuando por fin logré ubicar el portón negro de la esquina con un letrero que tiene el nombre del lugar, vi que el zaguán estaba lleno de telarañas y toque un timbre en mal estado. Se abrió una pequeña abertura en la puerta donde solo pude ver un par de ojos y oír una voz que me preguntaba por mi llamado a la puerta. Le dije que tenía una reservación y parecía que la persona no me entendía o no quería abrir pero después de casi gritar 3 veces que tenía una reservación me desesperé y me fui del lugar, al dar la vuelta pude notar que al lugar le falta mucho mantenimiento y luce viejo. Por supuesto no me quedé ahí y busqué otra opción.
