Reviewed By 561bettymThe hotel was very clean. The owner was friendly and I could tell from chatting with him that he really cared about the hotel and the guest's experience. There was a minor issue with the bathroom door and he came to the room immediately to deal with it. The site I found it on rated it as a 2 star, but I definitely think it should have been a 3 star.

Reviewed By nancyjG3954RVEverything was great about the room. I was in a handicap room 134. The toilet was very low to the ground so even with a bar it was hard to use. The pool was wonderful and such a fun way to entertain my 10 year old grand girl! Thanks for that experience!

Understaffed, but doing his best I'm sure some may complain but for me it's a matter of doing the best you can with what you're given to work with. Highly recommend this place especially if Chris is running the bar and the front of the house! Thanks for a beautiful evening.

Reviewed By bdm6984This was our first stay at the Carlton Hotel Atascadero. Overall our experience was positive and we will stay again. The property is conveniently located to all Atascadero has to offer as well as the nearby wineries. We enjoyed breakfast both mornings downstairs at Back Porch Bakery. The large bathtub was a nice touch as many hotels only offer showers these days. Parking is convenient. While the mattress was comfortable, using a flat sheet vs a fitted sheet is a step down in comfort. We were disappointed that the digital thermostat would only allow us to cool the room to 70. We mentioned this to the helpful front desk clerk. She came to our room and “reset” it. This allowed us to set the thermostat to 67 but truthfully the room temperature didn’t decrease. As a result we slept with the windows slightly open. This allowed the room to cool though the elevated noise level was a nuisance. Lastly the ice machine on the 3rd floor was out of order.

Reviewed By Abbie GWe rated this a four. Overall we really enjoyed this stay. The guy at the front was nice, they extended our check out time by 30 minutes. The pillows were outrageously comfortable. The only reason why we took away a star was because the fan in the bathroom and A/C were both so loud. And the sheets and comforters were super thin. We used one bed and took the sheets and comforters from the other bed. This hotel is super close to the movie theater which was also a plus.

Breakfast, 4. Refrigerator, 5. Microwave, 6. Pool/Hot Tub. We were very disappointed when checking in as the hotel describes its rating as 3/4 stars and states breakfast is served everyday. The room should have been rated a 2: Pillows to soft, Matress was lumpy, room counters were dusty, back of bathroom door wet marks, Also, we asked if they served breakfast and was told No!
