Woodenbridge Hotel & Lodge

Situated in the vale of Avoca, one of Ireland’s most beautiful locations, and established in 1608, Woodenbridge Hotel is the oldest hotel in Ireland and one of the few remaining family-run hotels. The hotel itself overlooks the vale of Avoca and the amazing Woodenbridge Golf Club, while Woodenbridge lodge is adjacent to the main hotel and is surrounded by peaceful gardens on the banks of the Aughrim River. All of the rooms are en-suite and with complimentary wireless access. Our newly renovated Goldmines Bistro serves delicious bar food every day from 12.30 to 9pm. Our latest addition is the Smokehouse Restaurant at Woodenbridge Lodge. On the banks of the River Aughrim, the Smokehouse promises to be the venue of the summer, with 180sqm of sheltered outdoor seating! Using our very own smokehouse rig and a variety of garden grown herbs, the Smokehouse offers a unique collection of smoked meats, seafood and vegetarian options. You can kick back and relax under a vast, fully-floored stretch tent that shades and shelters from the Irish weather. The Smokehouse is the ideal location to catch-up with friends and family! We're sure the Smokehouse will continue the 400 year tradition of timeless hospitality that is long associated with the Woodenbridge Hotel!

We had booked for a local wedding. Our plane was delayed and I called to advise the hotel and asked for some sandwiches to be set aside for us we had not eaten since the morning.we were told it was not possible and they didn’t do room service. The hotel is very isolated and thus we had not alternative but to go hungry. Not a good start.

Just back from a couple of days at the Arklow Bay Hotel. Have to say the service thoughout was top class. The rooms were spotless comfortable and very reasonably priced. Each staff member we met was friendly and professional. I would like to name a few in particular Lenny, Kevin and Fionn in the bar area and John who served us each morning at breakfast. I would recommend this hotel 100 % . We will be back !!!

Great location, comfort, people

Reviewed By Eileen D

Finally had a chance to stay at the Meetings and wasn't disappointed. We wanted to find a place close to Glendalough, and Meetings, at the confluence of two rivers, didn't disappoint. Even the drive down was silvan and beautiful. Rooms were comfortable, and yes, the decks are on two floors to enable the view over the river. The owners were so helpful and nice. Only problem was that the restaurant wasn't open. The owners worked with a local restaurant that delivered both Italian and Chinese food, so we didn't have to leave. If it had been warmer, we would have eaten outside. The bar was also pretty loud until just about exactly 11 and then completely shut down. So slept fine.

Trip was fine

Reviewed By 1LisaB20

We enjoyed our stay. When we arrived we were placed in a bungalow that had been recently painted, unfortunately the smell of paint was to strong for us but we were moved straight away, the apartment we were moved into was a bit older. We were looking forward to going for breakfast in the cafe next door however we were told that it was fully booked and we need to book in advance, we asked to book for the next morning but we were told it was fully booked. It was annoying because we had not brought anything with us for breakfast/lunch as we knew there was the cafe. It should be mentioned when booking that the cafe needs to be booked in advance. They couldn't even give us takeaway so we had to drive into the town for breakfast. The beds were comfy and lots of fresh towels. I'm very sensitive to smells and there was a musty old smell in the bedroom and the bathroom smelled of chlorine. I chose to leave the window open most of the trip. There is nothing in the area itself but the town is a 8 minute drive away. There are nice views and the people who run it are lovely.

I booked two single rooms directly with the hotel and was impressed with the great value for money. I had to cancel at short notice due to illness, and the receptionist was so accommodating and nice about it. Can't beat customer service like that, I will definitely stay there for my next visit to Arklow.

80 yr old parents

Reviewed By Michael H

This review is about booking the hotel for my elderly parents and not actually a review of the hotel itself. SO, I recently booked 4 nights b&b with 4 evening meals for my 80+ parents. I asked for a room on the ground floor, near reception, with a walk-in shower. The folks rang to say the room was exactly right! The staff are very friendly and on their return they said the food was really good so no complaints at all. This is 'my own experience' of BOOKING the hotel by ringing them directly. Thought it was worth posting their 'attention to the detail'.
