Rose Garden Restaurant

Reviewed By Sandy S - Albuquerque, New Mexico

Having spent my entire adult life in Texas and New Mexico, I'm picky about Mexican food. That said, this popular, no-frills, family-run cafe serves some of the best I've laid tooth to. Everything is made fresh to order, and the portions are so generous that my husband and I needed to-go boxes from lunch. What we took back to our motel was enough for dinner. He had flavorful tacos asados, while I had delicious chicken enchiladas with green sauce. Try to exercise control when presented with the delectable salsa and basket of non-greasy tostadas.

Ernesto's Mexican Food

Reviewed By Lewis E - Box Elder, South Dakota

While traveling through this area my wife expressed her desire to enjoy some good Mexican food. Checking various on-line reviews, I noted that Ernesto's Restaurant had been highly-rated by many who had dined there, so we decided to join them for lunch. This restaurant is open for breakfast and lunch, but not after 4:00 pm. Most complete meals are $10 or less.

On our arrival we were warmly greeted, promptly seated and placed our beverage orders while reviewing the menu. My wife ordered the enchilada lunch and I ordered the meat enchilada lunch. Our meals included rice, refried beans, lettuce and tomato and of course the enchiladas. Two levels of spiciness are offered, "green" which we found to be nearly five alarm for us self-confessed "Gringos" and "red" which is milder.

Our portions were ample. I was particularly impressed with the refried beans which were outstanding. The rest really woke up our palates and was delicious, but we were grateful for our generous glasses of iced tea which helped us tame the spiciness.

For us, Ernesto's provided us with an excellent dining experience in a friendly environment for a modest price. We could not have asked for more.

Great American Steakhouse

Reviewed By dantheman993 - Hilltown, Pennsylvania

There is something about steak in the southwest and just beats anywhere else. Maybe its the free-range and cattle living in the wild. But the Great American Steakhouse has an added advantage in the homemade spices they add to the steak. It is so very good. Only one complaint. They, as well as a few other place, have replaced authentic tea with a slight pomegranate flavoring. Had the same thing at a fast food place after picking up a rental car near the Denver airport. Thought they had given us peach tea. Don't like it one bit. But at the steak place, they helped us make real ice tea with tea bags.

I email you about this restuarant a couple weeks ago, but have received no reply. I discovered it during my last visit to El Paso, and it's wonderful! Please let me know when I can post a review.

If you loved the old Griggs, past tense, you will love Peppe's. Many of the old dishes are on the menu. ICX Burritos, green chili enchiladas with tomato, and their queso is great.

Great American Steakhouse

Reviewed By CDS2151 - Abbotsford, Canada

We were on a road trip and decided we should eat at a steakhouse since we were in Texas after all.
The service was top notch and the food was fantastic.
Portions were huge. In fact my husband, who ordered a steak dish, was shocked by the amount of food. There was no way he could eat it all. The coleslaw and baked beans were both served on the side in cereal bowls!
The power went out while we were waiting for our food. But the staff was efficient and did a good job informing patrons of what was happening and made sure we had everything we needed.
We ate dinner by the light of our cell phones shining down from the drink menu. It was a modern day "candlelight dinner.
We enjoyed ourselves.

Little Diner

Reviewed By Michele R - Mary Esther, Florida, United States

I have been coming to Little Diner in El Paso since I was a kid - I am now approaching 50 years old. The Little Diner is an El Paso institution. My husband and I ordered Chile Rellenos and Gorditas. Sadly, my Chile Rellenos were so oily, greasy and lumpy I couldn't eat them. We were the first to order and so perhaps the grease was not hot. The gorditas were still good, but thinner and missing the crisp outside/softer inside of the former gorditas. We will try Little Diner again, but we do hope the quality of food is restored to its former quality.

We've gone to Denny's while traveling for many years. It used to be a "safe" if uninspiring bet. They upgraded their menu a couple years ago. Most of the food is quite good. It's not "just for breakfast" any more. And, as a senior, it's nice getting a 15% discount.

Played golf here with a few friends. My second time here. The course is beautiful, challenging and fun to play. The green were immaculate. Good challenging sand traps and water barriers. Trust me, I found most of them. But I still had fun. A long established golf course in the upper valley of El Paso. Nice pro shop and a nice comfy 19th hole.

Flautas Tepalca

Reviewed By JackandMaddie - Alabama

This is a regular stop for me and my husband. It is a small little hole in the wall and very popular with the locals. We have never had a bad experience here. We love the aguas frescas! My husband usually gets the coco y nuez and I like the fruta or the pina colada ones. They are huge and a great price. We also love the flautas here. They are served with sour cream, tomatoes, avocado, onions, and a guacamole sauce and hot sauce. They also have a lot of mexican street food or carnival food like corn in a cup and dorinachos (nachos made with doritos). I recommend Tepalca to everyone.

This place isnt exactly pleasing to the eye but they sure make some good pizza. Wouldnt recommend sitting down and eating there as its much more geared towards take out and the inside is boring. Take it home and enjoy. I like the straight up supreme the best!
