El Maya

Restaurant was highly rated. Was not good this evening. Hamburger meat for enchiladas and tacos was just browned meat, no seasonings. My husband had a beef enchilada dinner and I had a combo, taco, enchilada, and chili relleno. It was edible, but not tasty. The hot sauce had a lot of CHILI POWDER in it. Never offered drink refills. Restaurant was not near full, maybe just an off day.

the small diner in the Bowling alley is the best place to eat in Alva. Breakfast was good. Did not get to try dinner but will next time. Just a basic diner. Nothing fancy but the food is good. Servers are very nice. Prices are very reasonable. You can tell this is a place the locals frequent often. We will definitely return next time in town.

Could give chains like Mazzio's in bigger cities a run for it's money! Specials for pizzas, their breadsticks are huge and tasty. I think they have other items, wi GS and calazones too. I am in love with the pizza though.

Northern Chophouse

Have eaten here many times in the last 6 months. Everything on the menu absolutely delicious!
Steaks are huge and portions very generous. The pork chop is so tender and they serve the best Prime rib I have ever eaten. If you can, save room for the bread pudding or cheesecake. Homemade & to die for!!
(PS saw above post that steak was not cooked properly... has never happened to me, but the owners and staff are so sweet. They will happily replace anything not cooked to your liking, and never be offended.

Taco Village has been a part of Alva-life for decades. I grew up eating here and have to stop any time I'm in town.
The colas are super sweet, the prices low, the quality consistent. It's not high end dining, but a great, fast inexpensive stop to cool off and eat.
Try the big nacho, with just cheese or with meat. Tacos are really good. Locals like the queso.
They are open weekdays, but close early on Saturdays and closed on Sundays, which can be too bad if you are road tripping to the home land.

Generous portions, reasonable prices and BBQ done right. I had a baked potato that was loaded with BBQ chicken (I mean loaded, chicken in every bite), a good salad and a drink for around $10. A friend recommended this place to me and they were right, so I am recommending it to you.

Champ's Restaurant

There are very few places to eat in Alva. This is the high end place. The food was good but not great. Service was very good. Very small salad bar. Menu options are good but will have to try other options before I am sold on this place. Had the chicken fried steak and it was good but again not great. We will try this place again because it is the better place to eat and there are not many other choices.

I know that Sonic is an Oklahoma company and that is why they are everywhere. At best, the food at Sonic is overpriced and nothing special. This Sonic in Alva is below average because of the rude people who work there.

I have eaten here several times. The sandwiches are always excellent and each is very different the others--no 2 taste the same (a frequent complaint I have in many sandwich shops)! They also offer some interesting (but non-alcoholic) drinks. Interesting decor, too.
