We were making a loop from Burlington to Plattsburgh NY via ferry and then driving back through the Champlain Islands back to Burlington when we stopped here for lunch. It's in Alburgh, VT and the view fro the outside patio dining is very good, can watch the golfers as well as the Lake. Food is a step up from typical Pub fare and beer choices were very good, it is after all the dining room of the golf course. Service was very good and our meals were also good. My wife had a half salad and half a sandwich, if the sandwich she got was a half I'd hate to see the whole sandwich. Varied menu and lots of good choices. Nice place to stop and relax.

Lakeside Coffee Cafe

We stopped in Rouses Point for an hour or so, on our way from Montreal to Plattsburgh, having crossed the border at the quiet, nearby customs post.

The Lakeside Coffee place was welcoming, with an impressive range of coffees on offer. My wife and I shared a sandwich, which was enough for both of us. The cafe has nice, clean washrooms, free wifi, and there were paintings by local artists on the walls. We bought a print of a lake view as a memento.

If 'quality' is defined as 'exceeding the customer's expectations', then this cafe is quality!

I needed lunch and this was the first place I saw! At first i wasn't sure it was open, but another pick up came in, so I followed. Glad I did. Not fancy, but an extensive take out menu, which seems to be a great deal of their business. For a small place - maybe ten booths and some picnic tables for warm weather - there is a great variety of appetizers, some really doctored french fries, wings, dogs & burgers, salads, subs, pasta, calzone, and pizza, by the pie or by the slice. WOW! Prices are fantastic. I got a half Italian sub, toasted, and a diet canned drink for $5.05. Prompt service. Not sure I will be back - but if I am, would stop in again,

Joey's Junction Bakery

What a surprising! Such hospitality, charm, and well-made, real food! See recent article at http://www.7dvt.com/2009highgate-gets-bakery-caf-art-side. We were thrilled with the food and the service at this unexpected find for food/art in rural Vermont. Fresh vegetables from the garden outside, everything made on premises from scratch by the Culinary Institute-trained chef. Who would have thought! I'll be delighted to write a review for them!

Stopped randomly on long ride home. Food was incredible, we were able to eat about 1/3 of our sandwiches. Maple butter fries were delightful. To top it off service was friendly and efficient so glad we stopped. Can't wait for another visit!

Went to the North Hero House for my wife's birthday dinner. They wished her Happy Birthday when she arrive and had cute Happy Birthday stickers on the table. They had small bottles of champagne for each of us(on the house!). The dinner was a fantastic prime rib. The staff came out with a little cake and snag Happy Birthday. The piano player joined in to. It was nice and very classy. Just a great experience.

Ruthcliffe Lodge & Restaurant

Reviewed By Miley2007 - Essex, Vermont

Ruthcliffe lodge gives a genuine, upscale dining experience on a slice of paradise on Lake Champlain overlooking the Green Mountains. The personal investment and pride of the owners is obvious. The food was excellent. The view was unparalleled. The experience was memorable. This place is best for adults, but even families with older children will love it. We had the lobster ravioli and a mixed seafood entree that were both excellent. Dessert was a very thin slice of key lime pie. Most of the food is made on site and is outstanding. The views are exceptional, so dine before sunset.
Go there for a memorable experience.

Location: in a shopping plaza off of the towns only busy road,

Atmosphere: cultural decorated, im not crazy with carpets in restaurants, makes it look tacky. The restaurant caters to everyone, a very calm and casual atmosphere.

Food: we had the spring rolls and the angel crab for appetizers. The sweet and sour sauce was amazing. We sweet and soured our main dish of chicken and tofu. It was very good as well.

We had great service but the Special for Scallops was only 4 medium size scallops for $28 - side was supposed to be Baby Red Potatoes but was a roasted sliced potato- not baby reds.
Vegie portion a bit small also.
Food was good but skimpy on some portions.
My wife's Pork Tenderloin was a reasonable portion and very good. She orders it most times we visit.
Would like to see more and/or different appetizer selections.
Nice ambiance in the dining room- comfortable rustic cottage-like setting.

This is the only restaurant around, but fortunately it was pretty good. We went there both nights we stayed in the area. They have prime rib to chicken wings, a fairly extensive selection. The waitress was excellent and entertaining and the booth was large enough for 5 men and comfortable. They close at 8:00 PM on Fri. & Sat.
