Albergaria-a-Velha (Portuguese pronunciation: [aɫβɨɾɣɐˈɾi.a ˈvɛʎɐ] ( listen)) is a town and a municipality in the Aveiro District in Portugal. The population in 2011 was 25,252, in an area of 158.83 km². It had 19,687 eligible voters in 2006.

Casa dos Leitões is an excellent restaurant. The concept is very simple: they only serve leitão. Very good leitão, by the way. The owner and the staff are very nice. They even bothered sticking with me on the phone so that I could get to the restaurant without any hassle - yes, the address that reads Albergaria I'd not correct; you should actually look for Angeja. A must if you ever go near Aveiro.

Fui num aniversário, em que o jantar era grelhada mista. Por incrível que possa parecer, nem o arroz branco era bom. Vinha completamente cru.
A sobremesa que escolhi foi salada de frutas, cheia de frutas enlatadas e numa taça que parecia de sopa.
A pior refeição que já fiz em Albergaria, sem dúvida.

Excelente restaurante com boa comida e bom ambiente!
Experimente o Bacalhau na Brasa, o Coelho na Brasa ou o Prego no Prato entre muitos outros bons pratos que têm disponíveis.
Esta equipa também serve eventos e faz um porco no espeto maravilhoso.
O atendimento é feito pelo dono que é muito simpático e brincalhão ;)
Visitem! Vão adorar!!!

Located completely away from tourist tracks, this place is frequented mostly by local patrons. And although there is a number of traditionnal portuguese meals on the menu, the crowd´s favourite seems to be the picanha. Served in a manner similar to the rodizio in Brazil from a spit (and repeatedly taken back to the kitchen to be re-seared), it comes with a number of sides (salad, rice, fried plantains, black beans, farofa) and with grilled pineapple as a dessert. So don´t feast too much on starters, no matter how good those may be. Wines are also very nice and reasonably priced. Only downside: you need a car to get there.

Just outside of the highway this restaurant/ snack-bar is a hidden but well known gem. Sit at the gigantic u-shaped crowded bar and ask for a Bifana. The fresh bread and the well seasoned meet are to die for.
Localizado a poucos minutos da autoestrada este restaurant/ snack-bar é um local a visitar. Sente-se no grande balcão corrido e peça uma bifana. O pão é fresquicino e a carne bem saborosa. A não perder!

The place is nice although the entrance is a bit misleading for a restaurant. The internal setup is interesting with barrels of wine on one wall and nice wooden tables. The food is not really special but decent, prices are a bit high by local standards but cheap in European terms.

Ocasionalmente desloco-me a Albergaria-a-Velha para tratar de assuntos pessoais e normalmente como onde calha, mas desta vez resolvi experimentar este restaurante. É um espaço agradável onde os clientes são atendidos de forma simpática e atenciosa. A comida é boa, bem confeccionada, com produtos de qualidade. Boa carta de vinhos. O preço, dentro da média por um restaurante deste nível, é plenamente justificado. Seguramente o meu "pouso" nas minhas próximas idas àquela localidade.
