Cuevas de Sorbas

You can visit the gypsum Sorbas caves in different ways depending on your physical conditions and concerns:Ther tours are quite affordable and prices range between 15 € and 11 € per child. They even offer a three menu lunch at their Restaurant at 13 € per person (10 € if you take a tour) Or if you prefer, you can have just a coffee on the Terrace-Bar.

We were the only two on the tour ( called the basic tour) so had a very personalised visit. You begin the tour by walking through the gorge into the cave mouth. In parts you can walk upright and in others you have to go on hands and knees. We are in our 60s and managed without any problem but it did need a scramble up and over rocks. You need to be flexible and with good mobility. Hard hats with helmet lights are provided so no danger of banging your head. The guide (Heike) was very knowledgeable and explained the geology and economics of the area in perfect English and pointed out solid walls of gypsum crystals which sparkled in the light. She also pointed out the water mark way above our heads that the levels rose too after a recent flash flood. As it rarely rains in the area there was no danger! Wear old clothes as you will be very dusty after your visit and a cool drink in the onsite bar was very welcome . The guide takes a photo in one of the small crawl areas that you can purchase if you wish for a few euros. Book ahead especially if you want to avoid school parties. For the more adventurous there are two more advanced tours in different parts of the cave system. Ours was quite exciting enough.

We visited Mini Hollywood on 8th of February and had a good time the wild west show was excellent and the can can show in the saloon was performed by very good dancers. The actors stay in character all the time. The town is really interesting. The zoo is well worth a visit and the parrot show is very nice.

Myself and my partner went on a quad biking tour for an hour and we got a quad each. The scenery is beautiful and it’s great fun. We went through the dried river bed which is very bumpy in parts. Ladies- wear a bra!! Then we went up towards the Sierra Cabrera mountains. The guide was great and we will definitely return. The tapas at the onsite bar is also great!

Fort Bravo Texas Hollywood

Fort-Bravo/ Texas-Hollywood are the largest western movie sets in Europe. They are located in Tabernas Desert, Almería. They were built in the 60s for the filming of Sergio Leone's many films, the famous spaghetti-western. We open every day from 9:00 a.m. until 18:00 p.m. in winter and until 19:30 p.m. in summer. Currently, our sets continue to shoot films, commercials, video clips, short films, etc. During your visit, you can see an authentic wooden town in the American Old West, a typical Mexican town, a military fort and an Indian town.

This is not a theme park - it is still a working studio. In face when we visited they were just a couple of weeks from having Joaquim Phoenix shooting there. The setup is really simple - the studios are set in the only desert in Western Europe, near Tabernas. The landscape is amazing and you could easily be in New Mexico or Arizona. The sets include a couple of taverns, a bank or two, a small museum of objects used in the various films. The real stars are the actors who play out the various cowboy 'shows' and if you only understand a little spanish, you will realise they are very tongue in cheek. That's to take nothing away from their fantastic horsemanship. Everything looks pretty authentic. Entrance includes a little horse and wagon ride through the Wild West set and the Mexican set. If you are into Spaghetti westerns you will love it. I would not recommend a full day here though - a morning is probably enough.

Great for all ages. There are smaller slides & pool for 8 & under. A wave pool goes on periodically, manned by several lifeguards. Lots of different slides, again watched carefully by lifeguards. Take plenty of sun screen as it is very exposed, the sunbed have shade if wanted. A fantastic fun time for either just afternoon or all day -
