During our visit to the Yarra Valley visiting wineries we dropped into this place hoping to have some lunch. Little did we know that venuse can get booked up weeks in advance so some advance planning is required. I am familiar with their wines as I do have a few in my wine rack at home. The vineyard was first planted in 1971, and has over 170 hectares of Chardonnay, Pinot Gris, Pinot Noir, Syrah, Cabernet Sauvignon, Pinot Gris, Pinot Blanc, Nebbiolo and Gamay Noir. We browsed through the store which has small goods, gifts and wines etc for sale. Next time with better planning we hope to dine here and do some wine tasting.

We booked the tour to experience Melbourne like a local would do and that's what we got. We had a fun and entertaining time with Andrew, who made us laugh all the time. Even after just two hours, we felt like we've known him for a long time. His tour made us definitely want to come back to Melbourne and not just get a glimpse like we did due to our short stopover. We'd definitely recommend Andrew if you want to have a local and passionate view of Melbourne's neighbourhoods and are not interested that much in the city's history.

6. Hiking Tour to Aqueduct and Warburton Valley Lookout

Warburton Motel, 4 Donna Buang Rd, Warburton VIC 3799, Australia Bike and Hike Warburton Adventures

You will be transported to the hike launch point (avoiding a grueling 800m uphill hike). Your self-guided hike will traverse the lesser known hero of Warburton Trails, “O’Shannassy Aqueduct Trail”. This amazing trail is cut into the mountain above Warburton. Whilst folks on the “rail trail” will be keeping an eye out for skinny lattes… you’ll be looking for wildlife in this protected natural wonderland. Hike through the towering forest abuzz with flora and fauna, great views and babbling water courses. Upon reaching the Dee Road Picnic Ground you can enjoy the stunning valley views and will be picked up there and driven the 7km back to Warburton Basecamp.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Map and Instructions, Return transportation from destination back to basecamp

Exclusions: BYO snacks and bottles water

7. Private Aqueduct to California Redwoods Hiking Tour

Warburton Motel, 4 Donna Buang Rd, Warburton VIC 3799, Australia Bike and Hike Warburton Adventures

This amazing trail is cut into the mountain leading away from Warburton township. You will hike 7km through impressive walls of ferns on this section as well as the amazing flora and fauna that adorns the whole amazing trail. This adventure is hands down better mid-week. On Weekends you’ll share the Redwood Forest with thousands of others …although you can look at them smugly knowing that you have been an intrepid adventurer to get there. Mid-week you can often be alone and therefore it’s completely worth taking days off from work. You will then be collected from the Forest and transported back to Basecamp.

Inclusions: Private transportation, Map and Instructions, Return transport from destination back to basecamp

Exclusions: BYO Food and drink

8. 3 Hour Rainforest Walking Tour in Badger Creek

Badger Weir Picnic Area, Yarra Ranges National Park, Badger Weir Rd, Badger Creek VIC 3777, Australia Great Forest Experiences

This experience offers an opportunity to connect to nature in a way that you may have not done before. The guide invites you to connect to your senses and observe the forest in detail. You will also learn about the landscape and start to see the forest in a new way. You will experience breath-taking forests that are home to the tallest flowering tree in the world and many other wonders of the natural world. The 3 hour tour will be time to slow down, connect to your senses and deepen your relationship to nature. Your facilitator will guide you through mindfulness based practices, share stories of the landscape and elucidate relationships between forests and human wellbeing. The walk is a moderate grade (mostly flat with some short climbs and steps) and 3kms in total.

Inclusions: Gratuities

Exclusions: Lunch

9. Private Yarra Valley & Dandenong Ranges Hiking Tour from Melbourne

100 St Kilda Rd, Southbank VIC 3004, Australia Hike & Seek

Take a hike in the stunning Dandenong Ranges and explore Victoria’s famous Yarra Valley. We embark on an easy to moderate 6.6km hike in the Eastern Sherbrooke Forest through towering Mountain Ash trees and wetland ferns. Keep your eyes open for lyrebirds, wombats, wallabies, and echidnas that call the forest home. Next, we head to the Californian Redwood forest to marvel at these awe-inspiring giants; some trees stand up to 100m tall! This forest is one of the best-kept secrets of the Yarra Valley region. Next up, we pull into one of Yarra Valley’s favourite wineries, Innocent Bystander, for lunch. There's plenty of time for wine tasting too if you choose. After lunch, we skip over the road to visit craft beer brewery Matilda Bay, before jumping back in the van to visit the lads at Payten & Jones for more good wine and great tunes. We top the day off with a visit to Four Pillars, a small craft distillery (that's been named the world's leading gin producer two years in a row).

Inclusions: Organic fruit & healthy snacks, Freshly brewed Coffee Supreme & organic tea, Rain ponchos & first aid, Air-conditioned vehicle, Friendly and knowledgeable tour guides, Unforgettable memories

Exclusions: Lunch

It's one thing to go to an amazing place of natural beauty and Wilson's Prom NP certainly packs a punch and ticks that box with great hiking trails, beautiful vistas, green valleys, sandy and secluded beaches, and lots of wildlife. But to go there with a tour that manages to squeeze all that in one day without making you feel exhausted so you can truly appreciate your visit takes a real expert 9adn that's where Hike and Seek tick all the boxes!). Special thanks to the tour guide Michael, who could answer any queries and engaged with all participants to make us feel part of the team. It is a long day (and more so for the tour guides) as the drive to Wilson's Prom is almost 3 hours each way from Melbourne so make sure you have a book with you (you will have your own light and air condition vent in the minibus!) or download earlier some good podcasts to watch (you will travel through places with no or poor internet access so be prepared).
