Welcoming staff operating at a difficult time
Reviewed By katieg190Staying at the hotel the night before we started walking Alta Via 1, the hotel is conveniently located next to the Cortina bus stop and a 15-20 minute walk into town. The staff were very welcoming and managing to operate the hotel in a very professional and safe manor. Like many others, we ate Pizza in the restaurant, which was actually very good with great service.

From the glasses that you get your superbly made cocktails in to the five star food to the superb cleanliness outstanding facilities and to top it all off a super friendly staff. We have just returned from a weeks skiing staying at this hotel. We were very impressed with all of the furniture. The organisation as well as the friendliness and willingness to help of all of the members of staff who work there. Very accommodating food allocation especially when you have two picky children they managed to provide what ever food was requested for an evening meal as well as a standard four course delicious meal every night served on the most beautifully decorated tables with fresh linen , lovely plates and dishes and cutlery and that’s not to mention the quality of the food. Fabio the bartender produced some outstanding cocktails with the most beautifully prepared garnishes and presentation of these drinks. The reception staff were extremely friendly and always willing to go the extra mile for giving help and advice. Reactivating ski passes every morning and they were very efficient in sorting out any issues. So book this hotel and staying in it was a very enjoyable experience from start to finish. It is set in what I can only describe as an exclusive village. The supermarkets delicatessens Cafes are all wonderful. Harrods the famous store in London would not even get a look in at some of the foods available in the village. The skiing for the week was good. The ski bus arrives outside twice every hour and takes approximately 10 minutes to get to the main ski area although you can ski in San Cándido but really that’s only half a mornings worth of skiing. So yes yes yes book this place it’s a great family holiday and the piano playing by my son Louie Scott entertained on an evening to give the whole holiday a real family feel.

Great hotel, but expected better dining experiences
Reviewed By MN2300The hotel is very inviting and consists of several sections with a nice outdoor space with lots of different seating arrangements. But it is located next to a busy road with the dolomites in the background; the road did interrupt the piece and view. We stayed 2 nights in the newest section of the hotel – in a “ Alpina Zirbe” room. The room was wonderful, spacious and nicely and naturally decorated with a great daybed. In the restaurant you are assigned the same table for breakfast and dinner throughout your stay – it is not what we would have preferred, but did experience the same concept at other hotels in the Northern part of Italy, so it might be the norm. We had a table in one of the “back rooms”, which meant that especially at breakfast you might be the only ones in the room. From our perspective it would make more sense to change the seating arrangements and if we had stayed longer than 2 nights we would have been really annoyed. At breakfast you could whenever possible seat people in the main dining room where you can enjoy the view. The breakfast is a combination of a buffet and several different dishes which you can order. We found the buffet to be a bit boring – lacking a bit of cold cut options and cheeses. Some of the vegetables had gotten really dry; seemed they had been cut the prior evening. The afternoon cake buffet – well…… both days we were there we came at the end of the time slot and it did not look very inviting, a bit “trashed”, signs for cake where only the sign was left and the cakes that were there were not very good. We did notice several other guests that took huge quantities so if that is what happens at the beginning of the service it is totally understandable that not much is left in the end, but the hotel should consider how this service can be approved. For dinner there are several dishes to choose from and you can order as much as you want. The first evening we did not order that much and the dishes we chose were not very big. The next evening we ordered one more dish each and that evening we apparently chose all the bigger dishes so we were very full in the end. Some of the dishes were very good and extremely tasty, but others were not the best – a spring roll that was not crisp at all, fried elements that had been fried prior to dinner so they were cold and a bit soggy. It feels a little bit like a factory and not that the dishes were prepared for us. For the price you pay, the ambience and the way the hotel markets itself, we had higher expectations. There is a little mismatch between the quality and the price especially around the dining experience.

Reviewed By Becky BThis hotel is well worth a visit. Firstly the area of Santa Cristina and the rest of the resort is absolutely beautiful. Gorgeous scenery, great transport links and amazing skiing! We will definitely return to the resort. The hotel was 10/10! The staff were all friendly and attentive, it was clean, well designed, had great facilities that were all maintained to a very high standard. They arranged various events for you throughout the week and feel put effort into all guests had activities to do if they wanted. The food was good and had lots of variety and our waiter Horatio was great! The hotel also offer free guiding services each day with Michelle. This was by far the best service from the hotel, it was great to be taken out in the mountains and taken to lovely restaurants. We met some great people and managed to ski so much of the terrain, instead of always using the map. If you book this hotel I would highly recommend skiing with Michelle if you are a intermediate skier or above. Michelle was always friendly, enthusiastic, willing to help and a great laugh to be around. Thank you from us all for making our holiday extra special!!

Reviewed By LuckySereNot a luxury place, ideal for a very "homey" feeling. A welcoming hotel, with very nice and professional staff at the dining as well as at the reception. The room where we stayed was very nice and spacious - with a very nice view over the mountain, a great waking up! The room was everyday very well cleaned - and the personnel always nice. Very nice common areas (maybe the swimming pool area could benefit from being renovated a bit.. for a bit more modern feeling but definitely not a problem). We did not test the sauna. Breakfast and dinner are very nice as well, with good choice. Located just few minutes walking distance from the center of San Candido - a tiny and cute village. Both my husband and I hope to be able to go back and visit them again! In the morning very nice at your table you'll find a very nice "good morning message" with always nice tips of things to do for the day. In the room there's a nice "booklet" for tips of nice things to do around the area, and the personnel at the reception is always ready to give tips and recommendations. Nice also their arrangement for snowshoes walks included in the price of the room (once or twice per week)

A warm welcome from the Pezzei family everything we arrived or went from the hotel, a Nice bar and terrace with good service, a perfect sauna with a vieuw on the mountains, Every evening the diner was the highlight off the day, perfect 5 course choice menu in a nice Ladin stubbe, we certainly come back! We instantly fell in love with the warm-hearted service, romantic environment, excellent restaurant, extensive entertainment and wellness facilities and lovely surroundings. Over the years, we have stayed in the hotel for 14 times. Our high expectations have been fulfilled on every single occasion. The facilities have received subtle updates over the years to keep pace with modern standards, without losing any of the authentic, historic charm that is so characteristic of the hotel. Everything, from rooms over the wellness to the restaurant areas, is very clean. This place is full of romantic, cozy spots to enjoy a book, game or drink. While the wellness facilities are rather unique (with a panoramic sauna, rooftop Jacuzzi's and Turkish baths) and the restaurant is excellent, the core of the success undoubtedly lies in the highly dedicated owners and staff members. Every single one of them goes above and beyond to provide guests with an exceptional holiday experience.
