There are not too many attractions in Valenciennes, but the museum is clearly one of them. Small but suprisingly good, with few old masters and good ancient pieces.

I've done brewery tours all over the world & visited Jack Daniels and I'm not a fan of Gin. This is not Gin it's Genievre and despite our friendly guide speaking limited but excellent English this was very informative & interesting. There are only 5 staff all family and despite it being a busy day, we phoned & booked & they fitted in our small group of 4. The tour is 6 euros & you get a small present included with an informative tour & get to taste the various Genievre they produce. The best bit is they don't limit what you want to taste and the finished product is available in the shop at the end.

The church is not well maintained. The tower has been renovated a couple of years ago but since then nothing has happened. The whole building is in scaffolding, by the looks of it for months already. Could not go inside the church.

Today was the reopening after 3-4 months of being closed for 'remodeling'. Best ice skating in the area. Friendly staff and great ambiance. Compared to other rinks Valigloo offers the most public skating sessions. Be warned though, you can wait an hour in line to enter. It is best to buy a prepaid entry card. If you plan to visit many times, it's the best option. Free and plenty of parking, easy access from Autoroute, no city driving.
