I wouldn't recommend this museum for toddlers, but children as young as 5 up to middle school would like it. There are a number of old trains outside to walk through and explore. There is also a playground when the kids get tired of viewing the exhibits.
I35 is under construction, so the usual exit 301 is closed. If you are driving north from Austin, use exit 300 and follow the access road to Central Ave. If you are driving south from Dallas/Waco, use exit 302 (Nugent) and follow the signs to cross the bridge to Central Ave. It is a BIG mess. My GPS still routed me via exit 301, so be sure to visit their website to get the latest construction information.

Awesome museum of Czech historical immigration to Texas in the 1800's and local Czech color during the years since the migration. A small but well thought out and put together museum, with very well done tours from local tour guides, and quite a bit of memorabilia for a smallish building.
A vast array of Czech heritage is well displayed along with stories and artifacts from locals. Czech traditions are taught nights, along with some Czech recreational games, and next door is a Czech bakery.
Reasonably priced admission to the museum of under five dollars, which includes the walking tour. Money well spent, and very much enjoyed.

A great little hike around 4 1/2 miles in length if you walk all the wondering paths. Paved, OK for pets, biking, jogging, or just walking the creek. It starts in South Temple Park, adjacent to the Lions Family Water Park and Frisbee course. As an interesting side note, I've been at many Frisbee themed courses in parks, and have never seen anyone playing there, but this one had many on the several occasions which I hiked the trail on my Thanksgiving trip back to Temple.
It's around a 2 1/4 mile hike each direction, but it's easy to walk a shorter distance should you desire. It runs parallel with the creek most of the way, and this has been a community reclamation project for some time it appears. Many native birds and animals live approximate to the creek, and there are posted signs in regards to wildlife and ecology along the trail.
Heavily treed in spots, and transgressing a small park with a children's play area, and a basketball court, it also crosses several streets. There is access to a convenience store about midway on the trail, and it also sports many trash receptacles, and a water fountain for your pet. Very cool.
Sadly there is a trash build up along the creek in spots, but for Texas, it's come a long way for a reclaimed creek. All things considered, it's a great hike and I'm sure I'll hit it again next trip to Temple. As an added bonus, it's free.

This temple is very close to the freeway (I 35) and is easily accessible. This temple is a traditional south Indian temple and the services performed are very similar the services in a temple located in south India. Artisans and sculptors had come from India to provide the look for a temple.

Leona Park is basically just a boat launch and parking. Some people were doing a little fishing on a very small dock. There is a nice two-lane boat ramp, small dock, lots of parking, fault restrooms, free and open 24 hours a day. The park located on the east side of the Long Bridge over Belton Lake on Hwy 36 and is operated by US Army Corps of Engineers.

My husband and I went to Miller Springs Park on a Saturday morning. The park is just below Belton Lake Dam. There is a small parking lot but plenty of room for the visitors. A few guys were fishing from kayaks in the creek. The park has a few old concrete picnic tables. Miller Springs Park is not Miller Springs Park Nature Center. The Miller Springs Park Nature Center is closed.

I love Temple. However, the mall is just gross. The standards are so low here that horrible service, broken seats, and dirty plates are acceptable for the restaurants. The parking lots are well known for break ins and stolen cars. There is no way I would let my teenagers or preteens go to this mall alone. It is that bad. The movie theater is nasty and dirty. The stores are outdated and service is not too important. Here's hoping Temple steps up and gets some better management of this mall!

Encryptux Escape Rooms have used some of the latest technologies and interesting themes in both their indoor and outdoor escape experiences. YES! The Escape Rooms have broken out of their walls, now at Encryptux E.R. of Temple, TX, they are City sized!!!! The indoor games are 60 minutes and the outdoor games are 2 to 3 hours. The 3 hour game includes a meal.
