Paramount Hudson Valley

A 1930s theater.

Reviewed By sonny2571 - Peekskill, New York

This theater is a throwback to the old movie theaters that existed in my childhood. Extraordinarily beautifully decorated and furnished, large selection of various entertainment venues, large number of seats, a balcony, large public parking, many great restaurants within walking distance to theater. If you want to go to a wonderful theater that would remind you of the 50's and earlier, and not travel to the city, this is the place to go to after attending one of the numerous great restaurants found around the theater. Do not miss.

Peekskill Landing Park

Reviewed By robcurtross - New York City, New York

We enjoyed a pleasant walk along the Peekskill Landing Park, and the sunset was absolutely stunning. Peekskill is one of the nicest of the Hudson River towns, almost all of which have many pleasures.

The art in this park is particularly beautiful, but the sunset often outdoes it all.

Blue Mountain Reservation

Reviewed By RunrDave - New York

Briefly visited the Blue Mountain Reservation one afternoon. I really didn't see a lot, but it seemed like a decent option for an afternoon outing with the family. Lots of places/area to picnic and play with the kids. I'm more of a serious hiker, so this wasn't particularly the option for me. Bottom line: Bad if you want a true outdoors experience; Good if you want an outing with family/kids.

Depew Park

Reviewed By AisleSeat01 - Cortlandt Manor

(Abraham) Depew Park is a gem hidden in plain sight in the middle of Peekskill.

Great for walking. Many wooded trails (some paved and some not). Quiet. Peaceful. Safe. Few streams, ponds and lakes such as Lake Mitchell

While Riverfront Green Park has more scenic views with the Hudson, we prefer Depew Park for walking and hiking.

A typical route for us is 2.5 miles. Longer trails also available that extend into Blue Mountain Reservation, owned by Westchester County.

For color coded trails, check out this map: www.cityofpeekskill.com/sites/peekskillny/files/file/file/2010_03_11_14_45_56_1.pdf

For joggers, there is Torpy Field with 1/4 mile padded track.

Free parking too.

After visiting Kathleens Tea Room we went to visit this museum. We were pleasantly surprised. it is full of interesting items. The guide was excellent gave a lot of history about the area and the contents of the museum. We spend a couple of hours there. It was well worth the 5.00 admission.
Only open sat. 1-4 PM or by appointment for groups.

A quiet cove off the Hudson River. Lots of kayakers, fishing and crabbing at certain times of the year. If you are lucky, you may even see one of the bald eagles that nests and raises their babies in the area.
