Even after having passed this bridge many, many times I am still amazed by it. For such a massive structure, I find it very, very elegant, and I always look forward too driving under the big pillars.
Actually I live close to the Akashi Suspension Bridge in Japan, which beat Storebælt in being the World's longest suspension bridge back when they both opened in 1998, and I have to say that even if it is not the longest, Storebælt is far more beautiful!

On a Hill directly to the fjord in Korsør, the Church looks like something unreal beautiful from a HC Anderson farytail. Decorations are modest but true interesting.

We cycled down to the Isbåd Museet, not knowing what it was, because a local had told us that this is the best place from which to get a good view of the Storebælt (Great Belt) bridge which links the Islands of Zealand and Funen. She wasn't wrong. But there at the end of the road was a small white building with the door open and nobody about. We went into the single, empty room and found several small wooden boats, a lot of black and white photos and Danish-only descriptions. Swallows flew over our heads, in and out of the open door. The museum appears to tell the story of the winter crossings between the two Islands before the road bridge and railway tunnel were built, or possibly navigation through the Storebælt channel itself, or both - it wasn't clear to this non Danish-speaking reviewer. It all certainly looked hard work, from the photos of teams of men dragging boats across thick, uneven ice in winters such as the hard one of 1940-41. If you have your own transport and you're in Korsør then definitely head to the end of Storebæltsvej following signs for Isbåd Museet to admire the bridge and, while you're there, pop into the museum to get an idea of what life was like before it was built.

Prachtig uitzicht op de brug die Seeland met Zuid jutland verbind. Vanaf deze plek krijg je een goede indruk van dit imposante bouwwerk.

Over for rådhuset står denne store, tunge granit skulptur.Kunstneren har virkelig formået at få nogle specielle udtryk frem, i dette hårde materiale. Kaptajnen, der står ved sit ror.Hans attitude signalere, at igennem alt slags vejr, på alle årstider,styrer han koncentreret, målrettet og sikkert sin dampfærge, mens han skurer ud over havet. På mig, virkede han noget urokkelig og kølig , men et flot stykke granit arbejde.

Det er en dejlig strand hvor der ikke er overfyldt af mennesker som ved Stillinge strand.
Der er en stor parkeringsplads. Hvis man skulle have lyst til at sove under åben himmel og kigge stjerner, er der et shelter, en bålplads og toilet. Er der noget bedre end at vågne op og så hoppe i havet og tage en morgendukkert ....
Eneste minus er at der er ingen købmand el. lign. Så husk mad og drikke :)
