An amazing experience and a must-do...to touch a crocodile is a truly fantastic thing and they are not 'crunchy'!!! Look out for the gigantic 'elephant tree'...it's something else

Great place to visit but do so with a guide and negotiate the price hard! In the middle of the market you feel a million mile away from the tourist areas and with a guide we felt very safe.

Musa Manneh Bird Watching Tours

Reviewed By DBADevon - London, United Kingdom

Musa was my birding guide for just over a week in Gambia. He was a great guide from start to finish. Musa was always on time (he was always ready to pick me up before sun-rise at the agreed time), he also tailored the tour to suit my needs (I wanted to spend some time photographing as well as birding). My best interests, happiness and satisfaction birding - as well as my safety and well being were always Musa's priorities.
Musa's skill at both calling in birds himself through mimicry, as well as his excellence at identifying bird calls was impressive and helpful!
His enthusiasm and passion for birding is truly genuine - and his determination to find certain species for me to see or photograph was unwavering. I definitely felt he was working hard for me throughout the whole week - and I don't think there was anything different I would have wanted.
Great job Musa - thanks very much.

Bakau Craft Market - Sand Art Shop

Reviewed By NCVienna - Belfast, United Kingdom

We picked up three small sand art pictures at this shop as well as another few nice little gifts at the neighbouring stalls. The choice is not huge (wood carvings, paintings, textiles) but perfect if you are just looking for a few inexpensive gifts... While all the traders were extremely friendly and eager for us to buy, none of them were aggressively pushy and all of them kept smiling even when we didn't buy from their stalls. A lovely retail experience!

Paradise Fishing Gambia

Enjoy a day of soaking up the sun, good food, tranquil scenery, fishing and swimming on the most comfortable boat for cruising through the Creeks of the River Gambia. Also Early Bird Cruises or multiple day trips available.

Reviewed By linnalau - Finland

We booked a cruise for a group of four people. The day was very relaxing, just chilling on the boat and fishing. The crew helped us with fishing and prepared us the most delicious lunch including local dishes such as chicken yassa. There's not much to do or see on the boat, but for those wishing to swim in the river (as the sea is very strong and not recommended for proper swimming), the cruise is very nice!

One For the Road Bar

Reviewed By beachbabe75 - Dubai, United Arab Emirates

Stopped by for dinner on the basis of the great reviews on here. Unfortunately didn't have the same experience. I think the fact that it was coming to the end of the season meant they had ran out of some supplies (including white wine to my dismay and then the cocktail I asked for!) and we were the only people there so atmosphere was a bit lacking. The food was ok but not as good as other places we visited. Was slightly put off by waitress taking a dish of something creamy out of a fridge which wasnt actually switched on, then that ended up on my meal. Took about an age to get the bill with waitress and then the cook trying to add it up. Just ok for us.

We met Omar on the beach ordering juice from which by the way was very delicious. Omar offered us to take us on a day trip tailored to our needs. We booked with him because we read good reviews on the ocean bay review page on tripadvisor
We asked for a jeap so that we could enjoy the fresh air.
The day was packed with great activities.
Our first stop was the crocodile pool. Worth it
We than drove for an hour or so to a park where we saw different monkeys, bird and hyenas.
Followed by a brief visit to crafts factory.
We stopped in a small town and watched the world go by. Amazing experience
Omar knows so many people and it was an absolute pleasure just to walk around with him.
We than went to our drivers compound followed by going to see omars family
Both experiences were life enhancing
We stopped for a quick visit at the reptile center which also was just amazing
Our final stop was in the very south of Gambia
That was just magical. We got on a very small boat and went for late lunch in a very quite lodge. The views were stunning, the food was excellent and the beach 5 minutes walk away. That beach is like paradise. No other people to be seen for miles.
I didn't want to leave that place.
Omar has been a diamond. A great guide!!
If you stay in the ocean bay hotel I can recommend to use Omar. Just tell what you like to do and see and he will make it happen
