9 Things to do Good for Kids in Kullu That You Shouldn't Miss

April 9, 2022 Frederic Celentano

Set in a valley whose original name meant "end of the habitable world," this resort town in the lower Himalayas blossoms in summer and during its famous Dussehra festival in October. Don't miss the Raghunath Temple, built in 1660 in honor of the valley's patron deity, Lord Ram. Less than two miles away, a 90-minute climb to the Jagannathi Devi Temple provides a panoramic view of the alpine area. The town is also known for its locally woven wool shawls, blankets and slippers.

went to GHNP for the trek with my two elder siblings and it was a time of our lifetime. It was in early october of 2019 when we went there and probably the best time to visit the place. We went with a local guide named Tek Singh. He achieves the impossible alongwith his team, what you get is a genuinely authentic GHNP experience without having to compromise at all on comfort or safety. GHNP is also rich in wildlife, incredible scenery & Tek Singh's amazing staff made all the way a better experience for us. I am glad to have found out about this place and would love to go again with Tek Singh and his team. You can contact the guide Tek Singh on his contact number +918318764151

Tirthan Valley

The "New Normal" and a "New World" we are living in, but somethings just don't go away, for a person like me, its "travelling and exploring" . Since this pandemic started, people like me have been locked inside and working from home, the routine has just been, work, bed, back to work. I really wanted to break those shackles and wanted to have a break, a vacation, but not a "Sightseer" kind, rather a place I can have peace and really, "Do Nothing". As most of us do, research before you travel, and in these times, you really should do a thorough one. I won't go into the details but I found this property to be almost ticking every box. Due to loads of checking, a landslide causing a de-tour, took me 17 hours from Delhi, and reached at 10 PM. The owner, Mr. Panki Sood, was well connected with me on phone since the booking was done, which did help in getting more information, over and above a thought , someone is waiting for you Once reached, was happy to see that they are serious of following health norms, my stuff sanitized, temp check done, shoes to be taken off outside, and get my Covid test negative certificate. Also, for the first 3 days, good social distancing was maintained which does give a confidence, that they are serious in keeping themselves and the visiting guests safe. Spent few days just inside the property and loved the food, the views, the sound of the river which is practically touching the property. They have a dedicated kitchen which prepares homely food and hey, they take special requests, so if you want some good fish, non-veg dish or any local delicacy, just ask for it They also have a bonfire place and a good seating arrangement at different places where one can read a book or just relax. They also have a stream of fresh water, which I just loved. Having lived few days in trekking and tenting on remote hills, i know that these natural water stream have the best thing you can give to your body, purest form of water. Mr. Panki runs a school which is located just next to the property and in these difficult times, he is giving it back to the society by ensuring that local kids get what they need in that age, he also arrange volunteer session and virtual session for online studies. I really want to thank him for giving me an opportunity to talk to those kids and conduct a session through which I shared some of my own life experiences and take some lessons from the kids too To just close with the essence, this property gives you peace of mind over and above everything else you would like to be in your travel plans, along with those minutest details which brings a smile and make you thing, right choice made.

Hot Springs at Manikaran

Reviewed By TRAVELANE_SHANTANU - New Delhi, India

Manikaran is 45 km. from Kullu. Manikaran lies in the Parvati valley of Kullu district. The spring are situated near the bank of Parbati river. These are confined to several groups of hot water springs emerging at various locations spreading upto a distance of about 1.3 kms. along the river from the old bridge to Brahmaganga. The springs at Manikaran come out to surface with pressure and are very hot. There is no sulphur or iron mixed in the waters, but it is said to be radio active. The water of these springs is so much hot that pulses ( dal ), rice, vegetables etc. can be boiled and cooked in it. There is a Gurudwara here serving visitors and provides night stay. In the Gurudwara, the dal, rice and vegetables are boiled in the hot water and served to the visitors after cooking them fine and surprisingly the meal is tasty. Vegetables etc. are cooked in a pan resting on the hot water. Usually the meal is cooked fine in 20 minutes. Even 'chapatis' are cooked by immersion. The heat near the boiling place, where the meal is cooked, is so high that inhabitual persons can not even stand and tolerate the heat for some minutes. The healing properties of the Manikaran Springs are well known all over the country. Pigrims from far come here and for the cure of their ailments. Rheumatism and muscular pains are said to cured very fast by taking bath in this water.
