The Jam Farm

We are a 40 acre working family farm with a licensed kitchen that makes sweet and or savory Jams, Preserves, Bread and Dip Mixes and yummy Granola. Plenty of samples available. Everything is made with the fruit we grow or our neighbors grow. We have tractors for people to sit on and take pictures and they are welcome to walk around the farm buildings and grounds. We have a quilt block on the barn and are part of the Mason County Ag Trail. Both have recorded information you can listen too. We are open 7 days a week in the summer and 4 days a week in the fall. We close just before Christmas and open again in the spring. Come and visit the Jamlady!

We stopped by the jam Farm today. The ladies inside were so nice… They even brought a treat for our puppy (who was waiting outside). My husband took photos of the puppy on the tractor - which are adorable. I was inside sampling in buying six or seven jars of jam. Everything is super tasty and nicely packaged. The women who work there could not be nicer. Was a good way to start the day.

My wife and I went here with another couple after a partial day of hiking various lighthouse paths around Ludington. We had originally planned on hiking all day and then going to a brewery in the area, but a bout of cold weather changed our plans. We ended up looking at things to do and when we saw Love Wines, we decided to give it a shot. Wow, are we glad we did! We had narrowed it down to this winery or another one, and picked this one based off of the reviews. When we got to the winery, we noted that it was smaller than what any of us expected, but very cozy and comfortable. Later on in our visit, there were a total of 9 people in the store and we were having our own conversation and they theirs, without any impeding on each other. There is plenty of room for several couples here. Let's talk about the tasting. We tasted 13 wines each, for a absolutely minuscule charge of $3. $6 if you wanted to take your glass. All of us enjoy wine, and one of the people in our group has even made wine before. We were all absolutely shocked at the flavors in many of the wines. The reds were all delicious, with no harshness or bitterness at all. My wife, who loves whites, liked the reds even more than the whites! The only wine we weren't huge fans of was an apple\cider type wine, and it was just bland to us compared to the other wines. It wasn't bad, just not what we enjoyed in comparison. They do have little crackers to eat between wines, which really helped clear out any taste to be objective about the next wine. To show how much we all enjoyed it, both us and the other couple we were with bought an entire case of assorted wines. We ended up leaving with 25 bottles of wine between the four of us. The owner was truly gracious, very informative and very helpful. When discussing techniques with the member of our team who had brewed before, she was genuinely interested in some of his techniques so that she could experiment with them. I would highly recommend this little winery, and I can guarantee that we will be back the next time we are in the area. The wines were absolutely wonderful (and not at all what we expected) and the service was as well. This is a small business, which made us even happier to support it, as they are not distributing beyond anything in their city yet.
