Well worth the effort. We visited as part of a group and one of our tour members was not on the list so couldn't participate so make sure you just don't rock up and expect to get on a tour. We were lucky enough to within two weeks of a launch so we got to see a rocket moving in to position. Such an interesting place and well worth the effort. Highly recommend.

Le CaaK propose de découvrir la culture précolombienne en Guyane. Ce centre d’interprétation archéologique est installé aux abords immédiats du site « les roches gravées de la Carapa » classé au titre des monuments historiques. Une visite en deux temps : - L’exposition permanente présente l’origine des civilisations précolombiennes en Guyane ainsi que leurs modes de vie liés à l’artisanat et à l’habitat. En outre, elle fait découvrir la richesse de la Guyane en matière d’art rupestre. - Visite guidée des roches gravées de la Carapa (environ 30 minutes). Ce site est actuellement l’un des plus importants sites d’art rupestre connus sur le territoire guyanais. Il compte plus de 200 gravures dont la grande majorité évoque des êtres humains. De nombreuses incertitudes entourent encore ce site : la datation reste vague et la communauté ayant réalisée ces gravures demeure inconnue. Quant aux interprétations, elles couvrent un champs très large et sont toutes sujettes à discussion.
