I come here twice a year to play this course. There are two distinct 9 hole loops at the Ojai Valley Inn. The front 9 is tight and travels in and out of oak ridges and the back 9 is a more open parkland style course. Challenging but not too long, it puts a premium on shot placement. Mark and Roland at the starter area are great and very knowledgeable about the course. A fine work by George Thomas. Top flight service and golf experience. Would highly recommend this course.

Buenaventura Golf Course

Buenaventura Golf Course was originally designed by legendary golf course architect William Park Bell in 1932. In 2005, the course re-opened after a $6.5 million renovation by Forrest Richardson. The parkland-style course aims towards design features that were prevalent in the 1930s. With classic shapes and edges, stepping on the course is like taking a step back in time. Playing at just over 6,000 yards to a par of 70, Buenaventura is a shot maker’s delight with mature trees, subtle undulations and rolling contours suitable for all playing abilities. The course also features the 19th Pub & Grille. Buenaventura Golf Course is rated “4 Stars” by Golf Digest “Best Places to Play.”

River Ridge Golf Club

Reviewed By mahatma

For the last 20 plus years the city of Oxnard has wisely had a contract with the Kanny family to manage a wonderful asset. Originally just the Vineyard and now with Victoria Lakes, golfers have the choice of two distinct properties each unlike the other. The Vineyard is longer, has less trouble and has a couple of holes modeled on famous par threes. The 9th is a replica of the Redan, the 15th at North Berwick in East Lothian in Scotland and the 12th green is modeled on the 9th at Winged Foot. Three par fives have approaches with water in play. The Lakes is more a course for shot makers with an occasionally cruel stretch of 12-14. This course has grass allowing it to be played in a links style. Tremendous green complexes with stimps often over 11 and big slopes require careful shot placement. With a wonderful staff, top teachers and club fitters, the reasonable rates provide a golfing experience at the municipal level that is second to none.
